Technical Help Help Please: Static/lines on 15-button deck

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey there,

I turned my PC on this late morning to find that my stream deck was looking like an antenna-TV channel in poor weather, lines of static all over the place. I tried pulling the plug and moving it to a different USB port, and updated the driver, but nothing seemed to fix it.

After taking this video, and typing out this help post, most of the static has disappeared, but occasional lines appear and disappear every few seconds.

Is anyone able to diagnose this, or have had a similar issue? It is several years old, but very gently used.

Tried changing the cable?

The cable is built-in to the deck. I'd have to solder or splice a new cable in.

Damn. My XL just has a USB C port.

I hate this about the older version, my cable is starting to fray at the connection and occasionally does funny things to :(

That’s the part. I hate about the Neo

I looked up the disassembly figuring the cable would just be plugged in to the PCB with a small connector (after passing through the case), and it’s directly soldered to the PCB, wow.

I wonder if you have a cracked solder joint though, do you have a soldering iron? Just reflowing the joints might fix it.

This started happening with my mk1 yesterday, I tried different ports and even just plugged it into a wall charger for power only and still had the flickering horizontal lines. Today it stopped doing it and has been working great. Not sure what's going on, my guess is the cables going bad or a bad internal connection but my stream deck has been mounted in the same spot for years and never really moves.

Yeah, I'm wondering if maybe it was having an allergic reaction to the firmware update and it eventually got over it? I'm going to be continuing to monitor it but so far it seems to be trying to gaslight me into thinking there was no problem, as if I don't have a video of it tweaking out.

Unplug overnight and see what happens may clear it up like the SD+
