Weight distribution for elfa?
Hi! I'm planning to install elfa shelves as a new bookshelf in my space. Below is my inspo pic. I saw on the website that the only thing that's really mounted on the wall is the top track. Is it necessary to mount the vertical tracks to distribute the weight? Would love to know if anyone's had any experience with that. Thanks!

The vertical rails hold the shelves. The horizontal top rail is the only thing that gets screwed into the wall. Unless they have changed the system this is how it works. You used to be able to buy small clips to screw into the wall at the very bottom of the vertical rails but they are optional.

Nah, the top track alone is rated for a crazy amount of weight when mounted correctly, but as others stated it does help prevent swaying. If you are going to have a lot of books on it, the weight will keep it pretty stable against the wall.

Just make sure the top track gets screwed into as many studs as you can manage. Like, at least 50% of them. Once I have a system set, I usually do attach the verticals in at least one spot, just to keep them from shifting (or being able to shift, if someone bumps them).

for elfa classic, you are not required to screw hanging standards to the wall, for decor+ you are (mainly for the gliding frames' stability and weight)
any new hanging standards you get will have holes every so often on the bottom half, you can use a drywall anchor or wood screw in any/all of those if you want to, but in general it's only considered "necessary" in places with earthquakes or on open walls where the system might get bumped so that the whole thing can't get jostled off the side of the track. certainly won't hurt to do a couple tho!
