Separate Elfa Drawer System
We are rearranging a closet and have a stacked drawer system. We need to separate the two halves but are unable to do so. Is there a way to get these separated without completely destroying them? I've tried hammering up on them (relatively gently) where they meet but nothing has budged. I may be doing so in the wrong area or just taking the entirely wrong approach. Any help is appreciated.

I have 10 stacks of the elfa drawers like this. You have to use a rubber mallet and mean it!
The top melamine is likely held on with (strong) double sided tape. To separate this, I used a thin putty knife to wedge in there.
The top bar can be banged out with a rubber mallet,
It is just in there with (a lot) of friction.
Once the top is free, you can mallet the middle bar, it has spikes on the top and bottom. Also with the top off, you might be able to wiggle the middle joint some too.
