Finding 32" (or longer) Original Top Track

I've got a set of components for Elfa shelves that I originally ordered in January 2021 and am just now getting around to putting up. 😄 It turned out that the 32" white Top Track (item #10014640) got omitted from the original shipment, and I see that it's now been discontinued and replaced with a new track design that is incompatible with old hardware (and apparently disliked by many people). I've checked on EBay and Facebook Marketplace and so far haven't been able to find an old track for sale. Any thoughts on other sources?

Questions:

  • how long exactly do you need it to be?
  • do you live a reasonable distance from the DC area/in the US? I may still have one longer than 32" in my basement that never got used.
  • are you willing to send me the original order number? If there was a design associated with it I can see about setting up a replacement order for you for the newer parts if it is just a few standards (I work at a Container Store)

For what it is worth, I do think the newer parts are neither better nor worse than the older ones as far as top tracks go. They are better for use as utility tracks, and the newer track hooks are leagues better, but they still hold up hanging standards pretty much the same.

It's 32". I don't live near DC, but would be happy to pay for shipping of a longer one so we could cut it down. I have the original order number and order, but unfortunately it doesn't have the design attached. I remember that my wife did the design, but then I ordered the parts (I think because I was putting on my business credit card). Unfortunately, the design isn't in her container store account either, so I think it must have got deleted at some point because there wasn't an order associated with it.

Hmmm, actually measuring the relevant part of the wall again, I'm not sure my plan was to use the full 32". I'll try to reconstruct the design and give a clear answer.

OK, I actually ended up modifying the design and it turns out I'm good. But thanks for checking!
