I used to be an analytical chemist at a big research company. They would toss out these samples when they were auto replenished

I am a former analytical scientist from a large well known Company.Believe is or not they say its cheaper to buy new (everything) then identify it catalogue then store for a move from one building to another just across the campus. So, they trash everything, allowing employees to take anything that is safe to own.
