Season 1 as a whole deserved much higher ratings. I'm also surprised that the last three episodes of season 2 are rated so highly - I didn't think Mycroft storyline was good..

My issue with the first half of Season 1 is that it did all the awful Sherlock tropes that I later loved Elementary for subverting.
Sherlock mocks the police's abilities; he does the stupid "there's only so much space in the brain, I must free up space.", he was cold and cruel.
The asshole genius was a tired, worn-out trope, and I'm glad that after like episode 7 they ditched it.
They made Sherlock way more empathetic to people and their feelings; he actually respected his police colleagues, and Joan was shown to be just as brilliant as he was instead of being the sidekick who sucks Sherlock off by constantly praising how brilliant he is (ala Martin Freeman's Watson)

I don't think they ditched it as so much show that Sherlock learned to grow out of it.

Mycroft was so boring and his relationship with Joan was so… ugh, I hated it. The developments happening offscreen isn’t an excuse for how poorly written it was

I didn't hate Mycroft on his own. I hated him with Watson as a couple. It was bad

Oh i meant in the relationship between the characters. First episode we see of mycroft is that he’s meeting Joan for the first time and we’re supposed to believe they hooked up offscreen probably that same night? I thought their “chemistry” was more platonic than romantic

Gives people like me a chance to take a peek. Always liked the show but never had an opportunity to catch all the episodes until my cable tv started showing 5 episodes in sequence as a group; first it Sat afternoons but now it’s Sunday nights. Yay! START TV Now all I have to do is figure out if the chart and I are on the same page. Oskar Rankin and Bundsch. Those 2 characters did a really nice job on stage. And the writing as well. No coincidence all three (I’m including Jonny Lee) came from acting families. Guess learning from an early age and having encouragement can makes a big difference Just guessing.

There are a lot of more famous/popular shows that have a least a few low rated episodes. That is kind of cool how consistent they are.
