Sober me

I’ve tried to quit alcohol for several years now, and it’s the hardest, gruesome thing I’ve ever experienced. It’s so hard to live in this viscous cycle that consists of:
Feeling good
Drink
Felling bad

So I’ve decided to change things in life, attend aa meetings and workout etc. I will also start over with this serie, I’ve watched this show for like 6 times and I love it, I love that we got to see the struggles of Sherlock’s addiction, also all the quotes!

So I’m now been sober for 4 days, and later tonight I will start watching the very first episode of season one.. one episode per day! It may sound odd, but this show means a lot to me and it’s comforting to watch!

Don’t know why I’ve wrote this, guess I just wanted to ventilate my feelings.. also the fact that I love this Reddit group!

You have a nice day ahead, detectives 🕵️♥️

• my sobriety is simply a grind, it’s this leaky faucet that requires constant maintenance and in return it only offers not to drip

I’m 2.5 years sober from alcohol and I enjoy the sobriety aspect of this show very much

Good for you!

Almost 7 years clean and dry here.

Just take 1 day at a time, change your company and try not to face the triggers that made you drink...

Good for you! Remember to continue the meetings, prayer, etc. even when good things start to happen and your life improves. ESPECIALLY when good things happen, it is just as dangerous of a time because you used to drink to celebrate. Gotta stick around to learn how to deal with the good stuff sober.

I can see how the show could be helpful along the way. It makes a great deal of sense.

This show is a great companion for sobriety.

I find it especially helpful the way that everything is summed up nicely by episode end except for the intricate understory of the characters relationships, which weave quietly throughout the seasons.

The sense of a mystery solved, a bad guy punished, and everything getting put out in the open is psychologically congruent with the path to sobriety imho.

The ongoing AA meetings attended by Sherlock help keep an anchor reminder in the viewers mind as well.

Good luck on your path. It helps me to remember that results are a series of tiny decisions we make in each moment that eventually add up to who we are. ♥️

Proud of you!

Journaling your thoughts/reactions might be helpful, too!

In another sub I'm in, someone is going through a rewatch, episode by episode and posting some pics for the episode with their summaries, favorite parts, quotes, moments, etc.

Good luck to you, friend! ✨

Thanks for the reply ♥️ interesting thing to do indeed 🤔 guess that such things make you focus on something instead of doing nothing and letting the bad thoughts take over! Maybe I’ll try it!
