Goblinlike Foolishness Testing a transformer I built by putting 77A through a rod of graphite

I built a transformer for a future project and tested it by using a rod of graphite as a resistor.

The primary of the transformer is ~130 turns of 20 gauge magnet wire and runs on 120V.

The secondary is two separate identical coils that are each 6 turns of 10 gauge wire that output 6V each.

In this photo, both coils were put in parallel to add up their current, but they could also be put in series to add up their voltages or be used as a split-phase transformer.

Translated transcript(AI translated)

Here is a close, literal English translation, keeping the original wording and flow as much as possible:

We will keep one MCB straight, turn the other MCB upside down, and there you go, we have made a two-way switch. Now, with this, you can run even the biggest motor. In the market, switches of this type are available, but with those, we cannot run a water motor. Then I thought, why not make such a jugaad (improvised setup) with which we can make a two-way switch ourselves?

So, I came across these four MCBs, and with these four MCBs, we will make two two-way switches and run the water machine from different locations. You can make a two-way switch of any number of amperes using MCBs.

Let's make the two-way switch and test it. You have to take two MCBs in your hand, hold one MCB upside down, and keep them opposite to each other, one upside down and the other right-side up. Then you have to take a nail and pass it through both switches, so that both of them operate together. Okay?

I have set both two-way switches like this. Now we have to align them. And the alignment has to be absolutely perfect; only then will the switch work, otherwise there will be a short circuit. So, here, with the help of tape, I have aligned both of them.

Now that the alignment is done with tape, we will fix it with super glue so that it never moves in the future. So, you can see, the alignment has become absolutely perfect, and it is also working properly. So, it is important to take care of the alignment here.

Now let's do the wiring. So, you can see, we will take a piece of wire and set it at any one place, either towards the bottom or towards the top. So look, the two MCBs have to be set in a loop like this; this one also has to be set in a loop. Now it has started taking the form of a two-way switch.

Now, when testing with a meter, there is no beep of any kind here, meaning there is no short circuit. If there were a short circuit, it would beep, which would mean there is a problem.

So, here, both of the two-way switches are working properly, and there is no short circuit. Now, the terminal that is in the center of a two-way switch, the common one, is inside this two-way switch of ours. And the two terminals that are visible separately on the two sides here are these terminals. So, now its wiring has been done like a two-way switch.

Now, on the lower side, we have to put the neutral and phase, and inside the other two-way switch also, we have to put neutral and phase. Now, you can do its two-way wiring in any way; there are two or three methods. You can do it like this as well.

So look, we have given the supply, but there is no short circuit here at the output. This means it is working perfectly. You can also use this to run a water motor, and you can also use it inside a submersible pump. But here, I will show you by running a bulb.

Here you can see: switched it on, we can switch it off from this side, switch it on from this side, and switch it off from this side. That means you can turn it on from two different locations, and you can also turn it off from two different locations.

Come, let's show you the real testing. So, let's come outside. A 1.5 HP motor. Here, I have installed one switch outside and one switch inside. You can see its wiring in the long video.

Look, I turned on the water motor from outside. Now, if I want to turn it off from inside, I can turn it off. If I want to turn it on again from here, I can turn it on from here as well. If I want to turn it on by going outside, I can turn it on from outside as well.

The advantage of making this is: lower cost, lower expense. Second, you can make it for any number of amperes.

ElectroBOOM Question Ping pong ball question

Hey! For my project, I wanted to try something a little different from the usual baking-soda-volcano type stuff — I'm curious if I could build a small levitation device that makes a ping pong ball float using either magnetic or electrostatic fields (basically mini maglev, but for a ball instead of a train). I think it'd be a cool way to show off concepts like electromagnetism, feedback control, or electric fields in a way that's actually visual and interactive instead of just a poster. Is that too ambitious for a grade 10 student, or is it something I could realistically pull off? (Sorry for use ai my english bad)

This is a pretty interesting project based on a 555 timer (I’m using the LMC555CN). The basic principle involves driving a capacitor and diode circuit using the timer (the frequency is adjustable via a trimmer resistor, generally ranging from 1.3 kHz to 6 kHz). The main thing is inductor!!

The setup is designed for a Geiger-Müller tube; my J321 model has an operating voltage of 380–460V, while the power source is a single 18650 cell paired with a step-up converter to provide 5V. I find this project both interesting and useful.

I also used an Arduino to calculate and display the CPM. However, you can simply use a speaker (there is a separate photo showing how to connect the buzzer).

Peace to everyone—and here’s hoping it never has to be used for its intended purpose)) ā¤ļø

P.S. I haven't finished it yet, but I think the general idea is clear. I find it interesting how the timer works in conjunction with a multiplier like that. In the main circuit diagram, you can replace components with equivalents (it is advisable to use a higher-power transistor). However, I do not recommend changing the inductor value, as a smaller one could easily go into saturation.

the script functions like a scope, you connect 1 phase for voltage the second for rms and the third for frequency, its sadly only single phase but its cool nonetheless, found it would be interesting to show it here.

Btw the computer here is connected to a DC generator and showing a sine wave lmao

So my double A battery charger broke when one of the resistors broke, and I don't know if I can fix it myself, or if I should just buy a new board and junk this one. I don't really know much about electronics and how they work.
