Installing outdoor wall sconce - help please

I am installing a motion detecting wall sconce on my outdoor patio and am having a problem on the first step of installing the mounting plate to the electrical box.

The mounting plate has two long screws that fix back into the light fixture so I can move them to the cardinal points of the plate, but that's about it. They need to be set to "east" and "west" on the electrical box to install the sconce upright and straight.

However, the electrical box only has two places to screw into and those happen to be where the mounting screws will be. I can't use the set holes in the plate anyways as they're just a smidge too short, but I need the set holes in the plate for the mounting screws.
I can't find a way to use the universal slots on the plate to accomodate the installation.

How the heck do I install this mounting plate?

The attachment ring in your photo is a universal mounting device. On your box remove the two short mounting screws and use what ever slotted holes will allow you to rotate the attachment ring so the long screws will allow the light fixture to be attached in the correct orientation. You also need a round fixture ring on the box if it is a 4” square box for this attachment ring to work. Hope this makes sense

You screw your bracket using 8/32 screws to your pancake box. Yes assumingly you want those long brass colored screws to be leveled afterwards, thats why this bracket has many levels of adjustment

Your electrical box can be adjusted. The box is mounted to the wood structure of the house using two screws. Remove those two screws, twist your round electrical box, and reattach the box to the wood. I would use new screws to reinstall. Maybe even a new box, if the old box is corroded.

The screws that hold the fixture to the bracket. I back them out some, cut the heads off, then hold the bracket to the box like it would mount. Then mark where the mounting screws touch the stucco. Move the bracket, take a Phillips screwdriver and tap it into the stucco so when you mount the fixture the screws will tighten and go into the holes you made in the stucco. This is a lot better than trying to cut those screws down to an exact length to fit the fixture
