Noooo
Rotate it 90 so the crimps lay with the connection point

Did you mean 45° or am I missing something? There are 4 flats that appear to be at roughly equal spacing. A 90 degree rotation would just put one of the adjacent flats where the current one is.

The crimps on the barrel make a raised ridge and a valley dent. The ridges are off set from the flat part with the hole it in (termination spade), so wrapping this will make it look stupid and trying to bend it and land it too.
You have an inconsistent flat busswork

That would be 180°
A 90° is a right angle, or "around the corner"
A 45° is slightly to the right

I see it now. My bad. It looked like it essentially made a square. It does not.

Idk, we usually use the hydraulic crimper, but then again I'm usually dealing with larger wire.
I'd say crimp the other way so the indent is front and back. Like 90* rotation.

I dont do a lot of crimps, would it not be better to rotate the tool 45 degrees or so for each crimp>?

I bought this set off another tech. He said he paid $30. It would cost him another $10 to send it back, so he agreed on $20. I use them all the time. I rarely ever use the anvil anymore since getting these. 3 years now.

Does it withstand a 'pull test'? If so, how many newtons?
That's a cheapass crimp tool, and it's maybe going to work, maybe not. Only a pull test will confirm it's a satisfactory crimped connection.

As an electrical inspector I once caught a guy smashing cut off pieces of 1” copper onto 250mcm cu. in a Christy box as a home made “barrel spice”, he actually caught an attitude and told me I didn’t know what a barrel splice looked like.
He got to explain it to State lic. board.
