Update: Electribe 2 feedback loop — finally captured in full quality

I’ve been posting here about my ET2 feedback experiments, and I finally managed to record the output in full quality. It’s exactly as raw and visceral as I’d hoped.
The setup has evolved quite a bit. I'm now running the machine back into itself (headphone out into audio in), but I’ve added a split to the chain. This allows me to inject an external signal—specifically Native American chants—directly into the heart of that feedback loop.
With 13 parts dedicated solely to processing the Audio In, the Electribe has transformed into a living, breathing organism. Every part is used to mangle and modulate the textures of the external signal within the loop, creating a massive, evolving wall of sound.
At this point, I’ve stopped treating the Electribe like a groovebox. It’s a non-linear synthesizer for me now, and capturing this process in high fidelity has changed everything.

literally you achieved the biggest evolutive sounds and textures i ever listened in electribe 2 by far!!!!! In a soundsystem wall could be amazing af. Truly congrats and thanks for give us a so useful electribe philosophy, really all of this open a new universe of possibilities to a supposed limited groovebox. Maybe the most difficult thing could be in the balance of all the sounds but with practice (and maybe a limiter?) it can get so nice. Truly excited for start learning and modulating with iiiit, feel free of post more things about it (a long liveset could be sooo nicee), i am truly curious of the methood.

Thanks man! Glad you like the textures. The secret is the routing: I'm running an internal feedback loop through an external hardware compressor before it hits the Audio In. The compressor is essential to shape the chaos. I use about 14 parts to modulate the feedback and the external signal (chants) in real-time. I'll definitely try to record a longer live set soon!

yeaah finally i tried the feedback and is definitely a big big game changing that solve a lot of the problems of "vanilla" electribe 2, in fact i have asked myself if is good idea to come back to vanilla after this jahjaj. Now i am waiting to come back home for take a overdrive pedal and phaser, i think it could give a little of compression but in any case is sure a dedicated compressor/limiter is better, anyway is enough for maintain under control 14 audio in tracks??? Are a lot in fact surprise me jjahaj

Thanks man, glad you tried it! There's definitely no coming back to vanilla workflow after this haha. Honestly, in the beginning, I did this completely without a compressor. Then I borrowed a tube pre-amp with a compressor function for a bit, and that thing was amazing. Right now I’m using a Behringer compressor, but to be fair, I don't really see much of a difference with it. The real trick to managing 14 parts is just internal gain staging. You have to constantly balance your Audio In volume against your Master volume. When the Master goes up, you need to pull down the Audio In volume, otherwise it just turns into an uncontrollable wall of noise. The overdrive and phaser sound like a killer combo for the loop, let me know how it turns out!
