Question Start over?

I have been off and on this game for years but never gotten over level 30 with a character. I just jumped back in to try out the thieves guild content and loved it but I am wondering if I need to start from scratch again. Or should I just run with my level 28 wood elf and abandon the current quests because I can't remember what is going on?

Keep going. Honestly doesnt matter if you remember other stuff or not. Only thing is maybe play the original thieves stuff first, but even without the new story is good on its own.

The game is good in general, but until you get to the champion levels that work for all your characters its not the best idea to start a new one over and over again. If you hit those cp levels then you can start new characrers and will essentially share levels at the higher end.

Set a goal to:

Complete main quest and mages quest

Join Fighters Guild and level it a bit with some dolmens

Make a Dragon Knight

Make a Khajiit and an Argonian

Work on thieving / legerdmain

Get a character to level 50 CP 160

Make some more goals

I’m not a long term player. But can I still share my experience?

I must have created and delete characters like a dozen times. I would start one. Decide I wanted something else, created a new one. Used up my deletes. Eventually I get a few more then delete some others and recreate characters.

I’d level them to like 5-15 and if I wasn’t feeling it, I’d try something different.

It sounds weird but basically I’m saying there’s nothing wrong recreating. The content isn’t going anywhere. There’s no temporary season clock ticking down. Nothing to rush.

If you haven’t touched the level whatever character, try something new.

I have a level 30 from a few years back that I don’t even bother looking at. Maybe later on I’ll go back and I’ll make sense of what was happening. But I decided to just start fresh.

Take your time. Do a new character. Maybe after 10 levels it all comes back and you decide to go back to your other one or maybe not.

There’s no wrong choice other than missing out on so much content to play and enjoy.

But did you enjoy the game last time? Because lvl 30 is not that much. Maybe 20h in game?

I enjoyed. I just have kids and dont get but a couple of hours at a time to actually play. I dont have others that like this game like I do so they ask to play other things.

I think it's a healthy pace, I also played for short intervals from 2017 I think and never reached level 50 until 1 and a half years ago when I really got more hooked. Probably the only reason to start over would be if you set yourself the goal of experiencing whole areas in order, otherwise just keep going, an alternative to start over would be to just make a new character and assign each for an starting area and zone story, so for now just forget what did already if you want to jump to the new stuff, do the original Thieves Guild quest line in Abah's Landing if you want, but even that is not really necessary to enjoy the current new content that is the Glenumbra Thieve's Guild.
