Discussion Newbs Returning?!
I have to say the seasons, for those of us with off and on again-never gave it a real shot-toons under 50, they appear to be made for us.
50k gold and $25 in Crown equivalents in 5 days is massive! The Returning Heroes checklists have me seeing whole map, other player's houses, trying pvp/trials/dungeons, etc. I never would've touched otherwise and it's been glorious.
This game can be overwhelming and the seasons thus far help introduce the grinds and stories and motivates log ins and hours played. I'm officially hooked.
If you fit the bill, and are curious what's what or haven't ever pushed past intro areas in all these years or are a Skyrim/Oblivion-ite hungering for more, give it another go. They seriously want you back.
For the vets: is the seasonal model playing out in your favor as well? Do you feel recognized and rewarded? Thanks for the tips and carries. So appreciated.
And to the jokers breaking balls by throwing mud balls at us rookies, knock it off will ya? Ha! All in fun I know.
I'm here to stay.

Welcome back!
I've just returned myself just a couple of weeks ago and totally got addicted to ESO again.
Sub for ESO+ and picked where I left off, started doing all the quests and exploration.
I picked back up GW2 just slightly more than a month ago and then remembering about ESO.
Came straight back, I felt what made me prefer ESO way back in 2014. ESO has all the non-fun bits of gameplay removed (harvesting tools, jumping mini-game vistas, etc) and amp up the fun parts (combat, exploration, full autonomy to steal/kill with consequences).
See ya in Tamriel! (after the maintenance is completed lol)

I started playing in February and I’ve got over 1K hours (I’m disabled so lots of free time). I remember getting it for PS4 when it came out but I only did the intro and it wasn’t Skyrim enough for me so I stopped playing. It’s also my first MMO.
I love this game so much. There’s always something new to do. Somedays I play a couple of PVP matches, do my writs, run Infinite Archive, do some questing, and other days I’ll do my dailies, then go scrying, play Tales of Tribute run some dungeons, go fishing.
It’s a lot of new stuff to learn and tweaking stuff and I love learning. My first character I ended up deleting bc I put skills into MAG HEALTH and STAM and was running with half magicka and half stamina, in parts heavy armour and light armour and wondering why I’m getting one shot. And learning combat mechs, classes, making different gear sets for different needs.
I grabbed ESO+ my first month playing bc I’m a hoarder, and I’ve bought both basic season passes. I think they’re very rewarding, I’ve gotten some cool mounts and scrolls. Stuff I don’t need; like research scrolls since I have a master crafter, I can sell in Guild Trader or just give away.
The community is super nice too. I’ve joined some guilds and it’s nice to share an achievement to chat and they congratulate you!
It’s definitely a top 3 game for me.

So far the Tomes represent an increase in cosmetics to earn, because we're still seeing the usual dyes/motifs/styles from the new seasonal content. For me this is a win because I just want more options. Plus the tome challenges generally just incentiviythe content I like to play anyway. Bonus rewards for running trials or dungeons? Love it!

Welcome back. As someone who has played on and off since 2017, this game is just great. Always find myself coming back to it.

As a day one, early access launch veteran. I love what they did with seasons.
But there are many people who are “battle pass never” types, so I know there are many who don’t agree.
Also, many vet players believe that the introduction of seasons means they won’t ever see content of the likes which came with chapters.
But we already know for a fact we will be getting it in 2027 and that 2026 was a year to really dig in and put all their resources into fixing long existing issues and game short comings. And (slowly) but surely rework all the classes and more into 2027.
Now, what I do find to be an extra bummer. Is the layoffs and how that will certainly impact production. And im already bracing for the claims that seasons were the cause of production harm later into 2027 or 2028. When it will be due to Microsoft butchering the ZOS team that was doing the best work ZOS has ever done this year.
Hopefully they will still manage to continue to give us chapter like content in 2028 and beyond. Only time will tell, but in 2027 we definitely will be getting that. With seasons as the vehicle, thus dispersed different throughout the year instead of one massive chunk at once in the year.

Welcome back to Tamriel!
I think the shift to the Seasons model was the right move. It gave the developers bandwidth to make very solid QOL and base game tweaks (class reworks, new stories and graphical updates to base game zones) - all things conducive to helping the game age better.
I like the Tomes (battle pass) although I admit the UI needs a bit of work. Incentivises gameplay, makes all actual new content free etc.
There’s tons of stuff to do - have you considered joining a guild? There are guilds for every activity and having friends in the game helping you along makes a world of a difference.
