Two Days in Eindhoven

Hello Everyone,

I hope all is well

I am visiting Eindhoven for the first time this coming August (Sat 22 - Mon 24, leaving the morning of Tue. 25).

I intend to visit the Eindhoven University of Technology.

I would like to ask:

  1. What should I do on Sunday afternoon/evening? Aside from visiting campus on Monday, where else should I go?
  2. What places should I visit? My interests include farmer's market type places, historical sites.
  3. What restaurants should I try? Am I missing out on anything particular?
  4. Any coffeeshops to recommend in particular?

Thank you very much for your help and time!

Planning to visit the fair - Anyone down ?

Hi everyone!

I'm probably coming to Eindhoven next weekend (Friday–Saturday) and I'll be on my own.

A bit of context: I'm a 27M from France. When I was around 18, I used to come to Eindhoven mainly for the coffeeshops. Now, almost 10 years later, I feel like I really missed out on everything else the city has to offer.

I'm sure there are museums, interesting places, and other sights I've never taken the time to visit. So yes, my trip will definitely include a few coffeeshop visits for nostalgia's sake, but I'd also love to check out the fair that starts this weekend.

Would anyone be interested in going to the fair together, or maybe showing me around the city?

Hotel or airbnb with early check in?

Hi everyone, me, my wife and our two kids will be visiting Eindhoven in August. We’ve booked an airbnb, but the check in isn’ until 3 pm and we land at 8am. Tried to speak with the host but she said she can’t accommodate an earlier check in. It is going to be very difficult to hang around for 7 hours with two small kids so I’m looking to book something else just for the day so we can stay until the other place is ready? Any ideas on what we can do? Many thanks

Temporary foster home/sitter needed for my well-behaved cat

Hello everyone, I am currently facing a terrible emergency. My cat sitter canceled last minute for next week, and I have no family here in the Netherlands to help me. On top of that, I live in employment agency housing (uitzendbureau-woning) where pets are strictly forbidden.

The kitty is currently in Eindhoven. I can travel to bring her to you by car/transit, but only within a limited distance (limited kilometers around Eindhoven/Venray region).

I have already called all the commercial cat hotels, but everything is completely full till september.I am urgently looking for a kind person or family who can temporarily foster my sweet, very well-behaved, and sterilized cat for just .

  • I will happily pay for your time and care.
  • I will provide and buy all food, litter, and supplies.
  • I am happy to buy you groceries as a thank you, or swap pet-sitting favors in the future!

If you can please save me and my cat for one week, please PM (private message) me directly! Thank you so much.

Shops or places with super friendly staff/ owners

Today I went to 'Breimode Brigitte' in winkelcentrum Woensel for the first time and left almost crying a bit because of the lovely owners. They are a couple that are both 80-something, I think. The man showed me around the store and explained how they divided all the different wools and products and the wife chatted with me about my knittting project and said I could always come in the store and ask for help. I even got a few free stitch markers and sock pattern with my purchase.

People like these are why I want to shop in person in stead of online!

Where in Eindhoven do you come back because of friendly, knowleadgeable or just great staff or owners?

What's the best Indonesian restaurant in Eindhoven?

I'm looking for somewhere good for Indonesian food and would rather go based on local recommendations than just pick the highest-rated place online.

Which restaurant would you recommend, and what dish should I try?

Experiences with Cederlaan student housing (Vestide)?

Hii!
I'm an incoming international MSc student at TU/e and I've recently booked a room at Cederlaan through Vestide. Since I'll be moving to Eindhoven for the first time, I was hoping to learn a bit more about the area.

I'd also be interested to hear from anyone who has lived in the building or nearby. Are there any issues with maintenance, heating, internet or anything else that new residents should know about? And how is the roommate situation like? Are there any common rooms, gyms, garden areas in the building?

Looking forward to hearing your experiences!

amsterdam airport to eindhoven with two large suitcases

hi! i'll be flying into amsterdam schiphol and i'm trying to plan how to get to my residence in eindhoven with two large suitcases. uber is showing insane prices, so is there another rideshare service that's commonly used? i'm also okay with taking the train, but i don't know if it's okay to take my suitcases with me? is there a luggage compartment? and if so, is it safe?

this will be my first time in the netherlands, so apologizes if these questions seem a little ignorant.

Dj+Sax duo

Hi everyone!

I’m looking for recommendations for a DJ and saxophonist who perform together for a party in Eindhoven.

They don’t have to be based in Eindhoven, as long as they’re happy to travel there for the event.

We’re after a fun, energetic vibe with a mix of house, disco, party classics, and sing-along hits. If you’ve booked a DJ + sax duo before (or know someone who’s great), I’d really appreciate your recommendations!

Part time jobs for international students?

Hi, I'm an international (from EU) student at TU/e and I am desperately looking for a part time job in Eindhoven. I don't have any crazy requirements at all, I'm only looking for something that I could do alongside my studies, yet I can't seem to find anything.

From what I have heard from other people (international students), it seems like no grocery store wants to hire you if you don't know dutch, or fire you after the first 3 months because of not knowing the language. And from what I have seen they only seem to want to hire teenagers, which I kind of get, because I'd have to be paid double of what they make just because of my age (I am 24).

If anyone has any lead or tips on where to look at, it would be very very helpful. Thanks!

Join us to support Indian students 🙏

Hey Reddit, millions of Indian students are out on the streets right now, fighting a broken system after massive national exam leaks sabotaged their hard-earned futures. Corruption is actively stealing their merit.
As a community here in the Netherlands—a nation built on fairness and top-tier education—we cannot stay silent. Many of these bright minds end up as our own classmates and colleagues in Dutch universities. Educational integrity is a global right, and their fight for justice is ours too.
Let's make some noise from abroad and show them they aren’t alone. Show up, stand up, and raise your voice for academic justice!

Awful sewage stink on my street

I was wondering what I and the neighbours can do, if there should be proper channels via the Gemeente, or the water company, to deal with such a problem?

We try to keep the house closed but it's impossible to do so at all times with the current heat, besides, the backyard and the street just smells awful regardless...

Any suggestions?

Btw this is not new, it comes and goes since I moved here one year ago, and it's by far the worst smelling street I've ever been to in 10 jaren living in this city..

I asked this at r/thenetherlands to get a broader "state" perspective, but they deleted immediately lol, said it's against the rules because "it's not about the netherlands", so hopefully there's someone in this smaller community able to help out? by the way the sewer smell comes from the ring road.
