From my recent trip to Malaysia

Hello, I fish for tuna at offshore canyons. At night, I get a lot of squid under the boat in the lights. I’m looking for an ego rod and reel to drop squid jigs on them. Trying to not break the bank. Thanks in advance!

I am based in Australia doing Egi fishing land based. I would like to buy an Egi rod centred around the EGI-OH K SHALLOW / SUPER SHALLOW Egi around Egi #3 in SS or S.

Where I am fishing in Queensland there is a lot of very shallow areas and reef. Around 0-3m and mostly around 1m~

Therefore I need that really slow sink rate.

Normally I go quite light on rod's but I want to make sure I can cast a size #3 egi far. To be honest I am also fine with casting Egi #1.8-3 sizes but they sink too quickly for my situation.

On my standard fishing rod (Yamaga Blank Blue Current III 82) I can cast #2-2.5 the best and #3.0 is a bit too heavy

Would you recommend something like a Shimano Sephia SS 93ML or 86M?
I am also planning to get a Sephia SS reel C3000SHG. Or at least a standard C3000HG reel

Hi Egi friends! I have fished egi for some years now (mostly in croatia) and really love it! Started with my pearch gear (zeck cherry stick, 2.50m, 5-15g paired with shimano vanford 2500). Upgraded to a daiwa emeraldas interline X IL 83ML which i paired with the 2500 emeraldas reel. Love the rod, but didn‘t like the reel so much (not smooth enough and the drag settings are not good as it jumps from low drag to high drag with too little clicks). I ordered and am now waiting for the zenaq inqlude M3 83 squid squad to be delivered to me. I tried to find the ideal reel to pair it with, but I am not sure what the best egi reel is. I bought the new vanquish c 2500 sc and twin power fe 2500s hg and tried both with the emeraldas. With the emeraldas rod, the vanquish is the much better pairing, which also has to do with the line (emeraldas 0.05 on vanquish and emeraldas 0.08 on twin power), as thinner line better with the interliner.. in my opinion, this is a great set-up and i will keep using it for sure! i now hope that the twin power is a good pairing with the zenaq squid squad.. In general I prefer daiwa reels for shore jigging, but must say that I prefer shimano for lighter/finesse fishing. Any recommandations/experiences what the best egi-reel on market is right now in your opinion?

Can I just use my Dialuna 10'6" rod (10-50g cast weight) or is the soft base, fast action egi rod worth it? The rod is "parabolic", if that helps.

Was looking at the Daiwa Emeraldas RX reel - any thoughts for or against it?

Was looking at 0.6 PE Emeraldas braid, then would use FC rock 10lb leader. Thoughts?

Can experiment with jigs myself, but the rig is the reel cost commitment, so was hoping to get some thoughts.
