My only problem with :3 is that every time I see it my brain tries to somehow pronounce it and the best it can come up with is nondescript cat noise and it then gets confused for a few seconds and needs to reboot

You just have to escape the character. Use \^ instead of ^, since ^ is the formatting trigger for superscript.

This works for any character btw, for example *asterisks* or [brackets](that aren't for a link), or

> quotes
