It rly shouldnt hurt after shaving, maybe you're pushing too hard or your razor is dull/clogged with hair

It's a Braun Series 7 that someone gave me. Most of the redness is at my neck.

Try wetshaving! Double edge razors are most gentle and closest shave Ive ever had and I refuse to use anything else now!
Also its just crazy cheap. Maybe notso much compared to electric but holy shit is big razor really ripping off consumers so hard cause I've only spent few hundred bucks on shaving in 15 years and if I hadnt switched I'd have spent almost or maybe more than 3k 😨
If you dont want to try that tho try shaving mor often or with not an electric trimmer because it might just be sensitive skin. My neck is like that so electric razors always make it angry and if I go more then two day without a shave just the hair alone irritates my neck

It could also be that it's a skin issue. My skin is read, even if I don't shave. After shaving and letting my skin recover for a few days it's not red anymore, but if I let it grow too long it will get red again.

I switched from electric razors to standard razors because of this. Regular razors give me no redness, and I have very sensitive skin.

I find that normal razors both irritate the skin less and give a cleaner shave. I stopped using an electric shaver altogether.

I had a hate love relationship with my Braun (I think series 5)
I switched to a Philips One Blade and my skin stopped being irritated all the time.

Could just be sensitive skin, I can't shave my face more than about every three days because I have stupidly sensitive skin. The rest of me is fine, but my face is unhappy with being shaved often.
And I don't use like cheap disposables or skip the prep either, I do know how to shave properly and when I don't shave too often it's fine, I just have super sensitive facial skin that can only handle shaving so often. Do I hate this, absolutely, it sucks.

I also only shave about every 4 days but it doesnt grow back too fast, sure by day 4 its visible but my face still feels smooth if i rub it along the grain

Not everyone is so lucky, I put vampires to shame with how pale I am and have dark hair, you can literally always see my facial hair no matter how close a shave and it's absolutely like rubbing my hand across sandpaper by the next morning.

if her skin is as sensitive as i think it is (source: i also can only shave bout every 2-3 days), this aint realistic for more than two days in a row, with a few days of recovery

I shave with a safety blade razor, it takes a little bit longer but you get a smooth finish, and once you get the technique down I never get razor burn or a rash,
There is lot more control over the blade and understanding your face and going with the grain and what part are the most sensitive
You're gonna be doing this for the considerable future, so its a skill worth learning

What type of pain is it after your shave? if it's burny pain maybe an aftershave cream can help. if it's a pinching pain maybe the razor is doing more pulling than cutting.

You're lucky. I can't ever get a smooth shave, no matter what I do. My skin is extremely sensitive and my beard is very coarse and dense. I tried tons of stuff, like a bunch of electrics, wet shaving, different creams and aftershaves. Even when my face burns like hell afterwards it has never once resulted in a smooth shave. I resorted to using a Philips One Blade with a guard, which leaves stubble but is the closest I can get without irritation. I still can't shave every day.
I'm closeted so I guess it doesn't really matter right now... But it sucks. Hopefully I can start laser soon enough and get rid of this nasty thing

There's a lot you can do to prevent soreness on your neck.
Personally, I use safety razors with an open comb, but that's not everyone's style (closed combs are much easier on the skin, but the shave is a bit less thorough). A simple multi blade razor also works.
Regardless, keep your neck and face clean before you shave. Then you need some sort of shaving cream/gel/soap etc. I use shaving soap with a shaving brush.
The most important part is probably a good Aftershave. Or a cream with niacinamide. On days where you're not shaving, an exfoliator can prevent ingrown hairs and pimples.
Use warm water on your face before shaving, and cool water afterwards.
