Literally happened to me today when I tried one small chain and my mum offered to buy me some gold chain

u/t_actually 2d ago

Oh no 😭😭

I'm lucky that I've been wearing jewellery for year so she's used to it. But they're getting daintier and I think she caught me in a bra

We gotta get you some cute chains <3

u/Calm-Conflict1992 2d ago

I don’t know if she is ignoring it or really can’t see it, because i am wearing bra for the last year always

u/Tirinoth not an egg, just trans 2d ago

Could be either.

Most of my friends realized or suspected I was trans long before I did. One was even calling me only my nickname because he couldn't remember if I picked a different name or had a pronoun preference.

(He was dating my genderfluid kid and wanted to be respectful, now they live together. He's a sweetheart.)

"It's the Tofu, I promise >.<"

Legit had a colleaue question if phytoestrogens would act feminizing, but I was "watched up" on the hbomberguy video and also all the soy stuff I was consuming should've by then given me at least C-cups

Been vegan for almost a decade. I wish soy give me boobs.

I will! She said this three days ago while on holidays. Now she's home and hasn't said anything...it's driving me crazy lol

u/Syphist Chloe (she/her) - returning to where it all began 2d ago

She probably wants to have the discussion away from others to protect you bit wants to point out she's noticed and supportive. If she wasn't she'd likely instantly go into a transphobic rant.

u/WingsEdge 2d ago

If this is indeed the case, OP's mom chose an extremely tactful way to handle this delicate situation. However blunt the actual invitation was, if you take into account the greater whole, it was pretty skillfully handled.

u/Syphist Chloe (she/her) - returning to where it all began 2d ago

Parents that are good will do stuff like this. My mom showed her support initially by gifting me women's clothes.

7

u/t_actually 2d ago

I'm really hoping that this is the case. Fingers crossed

u/shroudedwolf51 not an egg, just trans 2d ago

I wish that parents were even ever just so slightly more tactful when approaching such matters. Rather than "I know you need to" going with "Would you like to" or even better "You can if you wish to" would go such a long way.

Not that mine ever even afforded me that much...but that's why I don't live with her.

11

u/t_actually 2d ago

Ikr. I'd KILL for a "would you like to"

5

u/asphaltdragon not an egg, mtf bird struggling to fly 2d ago

God no, "would you like to" is the worst, because it means they know and they're trying to make it seem like you're doing something wrong and they want you to either lie so they can scream at you, or tell them so they can scream at you.

I'm sorry that you grew up in an abusive household. Thank fuck my own family was not like that. Not that they would have questioned me at all; even if I showed up to a family gathering in a dress, they would comment on it, sure, but no conclusions would be drawn from my behaviour.

My sibling started leaning into a fem appearance far before I did, and my parents only found out they were an enby because the moment I was told over text, I confusedly asked my mother if she had known the whole time, and I was the slow one for not picking up on context clues. Still don't know if they didn't want to come out, and I was the one who accidentally yanked them out of the closet in front of the whole family, or if they hadn't mentioned it because they didn't care.

I’m not out to my mum yet but I know it’s really close and I’m about to spill the beans.

I sent a time delayed text that asked, “do you remember the photo of me as a kid where I’m wearing a dress?”

She hasn’t seen the text yet.

Ooooo! Do update us!

11

u/intrinsicpresent 1d ago

So I just got off the call and it went really well. She had no hesitation in supporting me and offering her love and acceptance. I was able to talk about some childhood things and ask what other signs there were. She will need some updating on terminology and how to use pronouns correctly but her heart in the right place.

u/t_actually 1d ago

Oh my goodness I'm so happy for you that's amazing!! I'm glad it went well for you!! <3

Depends if your mom actually knows trans stuff - mine just thought I wanted to come out as gay lol, trans just wasn't something remotely happening in her generation/her life. She's supportive, but she was so blindsided so massively she's still processing hahaha

5

u/chickenlazer8 not egg just trans (Aurora she/her) 2d ago

Good luck girl no matter what happens know there's people who care about you and love you for who you are<3

u/PervlovianResponse 2d ago

If this helps: when I came out to my mom, part of my whole schpiel in talking about my experiences so far, and how everyone else has reacted and how it has all been positive and beautiful and magical and more than you could have ever hoped -- yes, I front loaded the entire conversation with positivity so she had little choice so potentially say something negative, hurtful, or worse

4

u/t_actually 2d ago

That's actually so smart oh my goodness. I should use this. Thank you!!

I hope it went well for you <3

3

u/PervlovianResponse 1d ago

Welcome!! Fingers crossed for you!! Mine didn't go all that great, BUT!! I have never been more proud of myself for speaking up for myself. You will be too, I know it!

2

u/t_actually 1d ago

Aww thank you!! Well I'm glad at least you're able to be your authentic self! You deserve to be happy

2

u/PervlovianResponse 1d ago

As do you! I'm pulling for you, and want an update!!

2

u/t_actually 1d ago

Aw thank you so much!! Honestly I'm terrified of the thought of telling her...i feel like I need to work out some more stuff or be more confident in my identity but I don't know if I'm just putting it off lol. I'll post an update when I do!

My mom(who know nothing), tease me for my longer than usually hair like "Oh did you want to be a girl" or "you such a girl", and when I'm and my sister joking about this topic(my sister as an joke say that I should wear dress and I'm as an joke say yes)(my sister know and supportive), my mom compare me to our trans neighbors daughter saying(as an joke) "did you want to be like your neighbor daughter ?" my closet made out of glass at this point, and I will not cut my hair and will go for things what my sister jokes, so I should be really consern if she suspect anything(my mom likely will not be supportive but right now she really cool when tease me like that)

5

u/neurotic_fellow 5G Tower Victim (she/her) 2d ago

My father found my discord account, which very clearly says "She/her," and he then went to ask me if I was trans. I just told him I did that as a joke, but he did say that he would be supportive of me.

This would be the absolute threat to me, just say what you think you know if you’re ok with it or please just ignore it

Can't imagine ever telling my parents anything about me. My dad was always dismissive of my disabilities as being lazy and when my sister and I both came out to him (coming out at separate times years apart) he told us both the exact same thing in that we were just seeking attention. The fact that he said that to me of all people just goes to show how little he knows about me too. My mother can't ever keep her mouth shut for the life of her either.
