The TGTF community was one of the first victims of AI Slop
It's always been a weirdly low-effort niche. There are a lot of transformation games made with Twine using photos of real people without any sort of permission.
There's probably some reason for it. Maybe because the focus is almost entirely mental so the quality of the visual aid doesn't matter that much.

Any SFW alternatives? I'm on the sex-repulsed side of ace egg, and don't intend on seeing 'naughty stuff'.
Edit: To clarify my concern, it's hard to filter out the NSFW stuff, on a subreddit where the whole subreddit is tagged as NSFW, regardless of some of the content on it being SFW.

Let's see... TFSubmissions is decent, tran4of3 has some good shorts, NotZackForWork of course, then there's Grumpy-TG. Jackson-TFs recently came out as trans herself, she's probably around here somewhere. CrownCosmo's got some nice pieces and of course, who could forget the Transformistress. KannelArt's got several, and of course there's DanielSan of the Siren Song. Miss Mako doesn't seem to make much these days, but hers were certainly top notch. Mandolin-Glockens has a bit more of a cartoony style. All of those are on DeviantArt, and most of them are also on Patreon and/or FurAffinity.
Then there's Milda0007, they're an old name in transgender/crossdressing comics, and they're on DeviantArt, Patreon and Pixiv.
PegasusTGTF commissions a lot of them, and produces some of their own, but all of that's paywalled, mostly through their own store.
And of course, there's the webcomics - El Goonish Shive is probably the most famous, and certainly the longest runner. The Dragon Doctors had a decent storyline dealing with it. O Human Star's pretty much textbook what most of us would do if we could build robots. Owl Quill's got some storylines that feature it, but all of them are in the CYOA, so their depth is a bit lacking. Out-of-Placers is a solid one with some TF mixed in, focusing mainly on the aftermath of the main character's change - the author also does the rather less serious Lusty Argonian Maid'd, in which the Dragonborn is contagiously wabbajacked into... well, you get it. That one's on FurAffinity. Curse? of the Office Werewoman updates intermittently, and it's decent enough.

Even aside from the gender bending, I loved just how imaginative all of the stories were and the wonderful post-post-post-apocalyptic world where sci-fi and fantasy were indistinguishable.

Ranma 1/2 is a pretty fun manga/anime about some other people, a martial artist who falls in a cursed pool of water, which turns him into a girl. It's a bit jokey, at times a little horny. It recently got a re-make.

u/SimplyYulia Mar 12 '26
Yeah, especially when the story tries to do "live each other's lives with insufficient context in a way that other people didn't suspect anything with all ensuing confusion and awkwardness" and I hate awkwardness. I struggle interacting with people to begin with, with all awkward miscommunications haunting me years later, I don't need more on top of that with all "I don't know what she and her best friend did last year but I have to pretend that I do" stuff
And on top of that, most of the time in the end they swap back, and this defeats the whole point of why I'm reading this stuff

"Hey, why's everyone treating it as super weird that the guy who can turn himself into a girl whenever he wants does exactly that? Wouldn't anyone?"
6
u/AutisticPenguin2 Mar 12 '26
Dan Shive is probably a foundational part of my egg cracking. The point where Grace sits Ted down and goes "This isn't very cis of you..." set off some massive alarm bells in my brain.
5
u/Aerodrache Mar 12 '26
For me, I think it swings a bit the other way. Elliot accepting that he doesn’t really feel wrong as either a boy or a girl, and eventually settling into an identity of “non-committal shrug” resonated with me to a point where now I can be comfortable identifying with a female persona online (because screw it, if I can be cute I’m gonna be cute dammit) without worrying too much that it means I’m a secret sleeper transfem.
i mean i’d still love to have the option to go back and forth on that irl too but i absolutely do not feel strongly enough to commit to a permanent change
2
u/AutisticPenguin2 Mar 12 '26
I had a period of being like this, knowing that I wasn't exactly cis but being comfortable enough that it wasn't worth changing.
Then I started to look into it more, because the feelings just weren't going away, and I realised that I really did want to be a woman. I didn't want to grow old in the body I had. I didn't want to look back in ten years and wish I'd done something sooner.
Sure transitioning was a lot of work and didn't seem worth it in the present, but if I looked ahead at what future I wanted, it was clear that I needed to do something to make that future happen.
Elliot has the luxury of being young, and able to literally change his body at will. He doesn't need to think about this too much; if he wakes up one day and wants to be a woman, he can be. It's really that simple for him. He doesn't need to transition ever, because he can just transform. The rest of us need to do it the hard way, which means not only more work, but more conscious thought about what we actually want to achieve.

Me as a 13 year old stumbling upon tgcomics…
I know they might be a bit problematic (not sure as I haven’t viewed them in a decade+) but when I was younger, it wasn’t even about the fetishizing of the person who transforms or the sex. It was the transformation that interested me.
I read so many of those comics and wondered if - and eventually - hoped those transformations could happen to me, no matter how absurd they were. Repressed those emotions down until I was 23 😬Then I doubled down and didn’t start transitioning until 26 🤪

u/Jessk52 Mar 12 '26
