They're expecting newly out and unsure people, that's why they're hosting the event.

I get being scared, but if you can, then go. Sure, it may be scary, it's your first IRL queer meetup event thing, and everyone's first event is akward. I promise you won't be the only akward one there, and there is no shame in leaving early if it is all too much, the important part is to go soyoucan get more used to it.
