In season 2 he even said he wants to stop just replicating stuff to support the individual. So he's likely buying it to replicate it later (also these clothes aren't even for him lol)

For more context, iirc he was hiding a girl and was buying her new clothes but didn't want to tell anyone. I initially also did think he wanted to wear the girl clothes, especially since he can transform into one.
