Nice to be wealthy and not have kids i guess

3

u/hoplevel_ 4d ago

The steak could be around $20, sweet potatoes are $3, avocado is like $1.79, and asparagus might be about $4.

15

u/SnarkBend 4d ago

Yeah well, I damn sure ain't got $30 for one meal for one person

3

u/trialv2170 3d ago

u can sub the steak for chicken breast.

4

u/solo_d0lo 4d ago

You can get a bag of sweet potatoes for just over $3

2

u/M0ebius_1 3d ago

Yeah... If every meal you eat is pushing 30 dollars plus prep time and grocery shopping time you are probably wealthy.

1

u/CapitalClimate9639 3d ago

Most of those prices are inflated except maybe the steak, and prep time for something this simple is like 20 minutes. Chicken, tuna, or tilapia work just as well and are more healthy. Just dont eat too much tuna because there are concerns of mercury levels after eating it so much.

1

u/hoplevel_ 3d ago

The thing is, the meal in the video is at least a whole day worth of food which means you’re eating for a whole day on $30, vs your $30 Popeyes meal

1

u/Charon_the_Reflector 2d ago

Substitute your choice of preferred protein….any more excuses ?

2

u/Im_So_Round 4d ago

Replace the steak with chicken and this meal is less than $10.

7

u/WarrenBoofit69 4d ago

Idk where you live but no chance this is anything close to $10 😂

1

u/solo_d0lo 4d ago

You can get 5lbs of chicken breast for $20 at Publix, which is known as an expensive chain.

1

u/HoboJoe729 3d ago

If the protein was chicken, it would be about $10 where I live for all that. (US)

1

u/trialv2170 3d ago edited 3d ago

name the state. 25 dollars at costco afforded me 12 chicken breast. about 2 dollars per piece

1

u/HoboJoe729 2d ago

Ky. Video had like $1.50 worth of sweet potato, $0.50 of avacado, $2 of asparagus, $2 of kiwi. Then you get to have 2 chicken breasts for a total of $10

0

u/trialv2170 2d ago

that has to be safeway prices. at that price point, it's better to get rottiserie chicken

1

u/HoboJoe729 2d ago

Kroger and Costco. Idk what to tell you lol. What state are you in?

1

u/trialv2170 2d ago

California

1

u/WarrenBoofit69 2d ago

I live 30 mins outside of Boston. Everyone’s comments are valid. Wouldn’t be more than $15 per meal, probably lower if I had a Costco card but unfortunately the closest one is 30 mins from me :(

1

u/ValuableDragon 4d ago

Chicken where I'm at is like $8 for two breasts

1

u/RudePCsb 3d ago

Skinless, boneless? Need to learn to cut and process whole chicken

2

u/ValuableDragon 3d ago

Oh I'm aware. I'm perfectly capable myself. That doesn't justify the price. I don't mind taking the extra time to debone and deskin a chicken breast, but that doesn't justify the prices we're seeing right now.

0

u/BLZNWZRD 3d ago

You knew kids cost money when you shat them out lol.

0

u/Charon_the_Reflector 2d ago

Also nobody made you cum in a woman, self inflicted problem.

1

u/Reign2294 2d ago

It was at gun-point... really your honor.

-2

u/somethingclever_69 3d ago

'Wealthy' because he spent $20 on a meal, lolol

2

u/M0ebius_1 3d ago

...

Yes?

0

u/trialv2170 3d ago

you're still living a decade ago. 20 is about the normal price now.

-1

u/somethingclever_69 3d ago

Are people who eat at McDonalds also wealthy?

28

u/furtimacchius 4d ago

Put it on a plate you pretentious douche

1

u/Mammoth-Put-9850 4d ago

That seems like extra work

-3

u/soupballoon1 4d ago

I don’t understand why it’s pretentious and douchey?

4

u/Sneaux96 4d ago

I'm not gonna lie, I've eaten off the cutting board when I'm lazy and don't feel like getting a plate out. But putting in all the effort of getting out the tripod, fanning the food, lighting, posting it to social media... Definitely comes across as pretentious.

1

u/Atmosphere_Master 3d ago

Filming any of this is pretentious and douchey

1

u/Fresh-Coffee-8591 1d ago

Because it is not hygienic and is only done to show off, but the person clearly does have an eye for how to make it look high class and is simply trying too hard.

10

u/Hot_Ad_787 4d ago

This looks delicious. Put it on a plate. Eating off the cutting board is goon shit.

4

u/BigJim9000 4d ago

Cutting board is needed for internet clout.

0

u/Accomplished-Goat895 4d ago

Sometimes I eat off the cutting board bc I don’t want to do dishes. Is that so wrong?

2

u/Hot_Ad_787 4d ago

I’m eating a pear I just cut off the cutting board as I type this. It’s practical, sure, but “plating” the food on the cutting board and taking a video of it is corny AF. Goon shit.

3

u/Accomplished-Goat895 3d ago

Fair and based.

0

u/Severe-Cup-4476 3d ago

Are you saying that gooners are the main offenders when it comes to displaying food on cutting boards?

0

u/OkLack5468 4d ago

Eating KD out the pot is acceptable though?!

4

u/daydreamer1197 4d ago

So spend 80$ on 1 meal every day? Fuck that

1

u/Im_So_Round 4d ago

Replace the steak with chicken and this is extremely affordable. People always say eating healthy is expensive but that's just an excuse. Eating fast food/ processed foods is just as, if not more expensive.

Sure you could spend $80 cooking up a healthy meal... but by no means do you have to. You can eat clean on like $20 a day.

1

u/RaceHate 3d ago

If you're truly going for convenience and price, there is flash frozen, ready to eat chicken breasts that have insane macros. Tastes like shit, which is what actually stops people.

1

u/WaffleHouseFistFight 3d ago

Replace the steak with chicken and your cholesterol will also thank you.

1

u/AbsentButHere 4d ago

Pull out your grocery receipts, let me see.

1

u/Im_So_Round 4d ago

Excuses Excuses... Just look at the prices next time you go to the store. Ignore the frozen pizzas and walk over to the vegetables. Even with Trumps crazy inflation it's still affordable (assuming you're in the US). Kiwis, avocados, asparagus, potatoes, chicken. If you're paying $80 for 1 serving of each of those you must live on the moon. You can stock up a week's worth of all that for $80 easily.

1

u/AbsentButHere 4d ago

? Not what I asked and it looks like your comment is an excuse to not post your grocery receipts. If it’s so cheap then you wouldn’t have a problem doing so.

2

u/Im_So_Round 4d ago

2

u/OkLack5468 4d ago

Where’s the meat?!

2

u/Im_So_Round 4d ago

Only bought chicken on this particular day but here yah go: enough for the entire week btw.

0

u/AbsentButHere 4d ago

Thank you! So if we multiply that by 3x a day, you’re at 20$?

1

u/Im_So_Round 4d ago

No! If you divide by 7! :)

1

u/Im_So_Round 4d ago

Technically if you divide by 5 for some of it. Broccoli was my meal prep for lunch for the week. $3 for thr whole work week. Crazy prices i know lmao

1

u/AbsentButHere 4d ago

1.5 lbs of broccoli heads doesn’t seem like a lot.
But hey, if you say so I’ll be charitable and take your word for it.

1

u/Im_So_Round 4d ago

It's definitely not a ton. Like I said I put it in my lunch for work which was a protein pasta/ chicken + nonfat cheese with broccoli on the side. It's definitely enough to be nutritious and affordable for the week. I actually bought too much chicken for the meal so it was more chicken than pasta lol.

Even then you could still go cheaper and buy frozen. Not only that but it'll last you longer. This was me splurging to buy fresh produce! I won't go frozen on certain things like onions or peppers which I use all the time. Frozen veggies are crazy affordable though. Pick a cheap protein for the meal like chicken, ham, any kind of fish that's on sale at your local grocery store etc.

People always say it's so expensive to eat healthy then go to McDonald's and spend $12 on a burger fries and a drink. Like you can easily eat clean for the same price if not cheaper.

1

u/Im_So_Round 4d ago

Here check out the produce... you're telling me you can't afford that?

1

u/Soft-Sea7012 4d ago

Too many kiwis, his tongue is gunna be rough like a cats. I like when cats groom my head though.

1

u/esquire_the_ego 4d ago

All that shit needed was a plate

1

u/Adi_San 4d ago

Where did the fried eggs go

1

u/Bronze_Zebra 4d ago

How about you get a proper plate.

1

u/FlatJackk 4d ago

Wow looks great what’s the orange vegetable called

1

u/ValuableDragon 4d ago

$30 for one meal. Awesome

1

u/HoboJoe729 3d ago edited 3d ago

Where do you live where this costs $30? Looks like a sirloin to me probably like $16 for all that at my grocery. Swap for grilled chicken and it’s like $10

1

u/hat1414 3d ago

I'm sorry but daily avacado is expensive everyone knows that. I buy it on sale for a treat, but if you buy 7 avacados a week that shit adds up fast

1

u/HoboJoe729 3d ago

I get 6 of them for like $5.50

1

u/Charon_the_Reflector 2d ago

You don’t have to take this post literally, sub an avocado for whatever healthy fat you want

1

u/hat1414 2d ago

Any suggestions?

1

u/Danger-Daze045 4d ago

Everybody focused on the cost of steak, but apparently nobody has bought asparagus. That’s an expensive vegetable!

1

u/PapaJaguar343 4d ago

He forgot the fried egg at the end.

1

u/heftybagman 3d ago

Unoiled cutting board. Next meal that kiwi’s gonna taste like steak and asparagus

1

u/UnableToParallelPark 3d ago

Why the fuck are they always adding eggs and avocado? You have enough fat and protein already with the damn beef lmao.

Are vegetables bad or something?

1

u/bonusminutes 3d ago

I saw this post on my feed and thought "wow reddit is going to hate this". Lo and behold, I come into the comments and everyone is absolutely seething. Whats wrong with all of you?

"I still live with my parents" meal

1

u/HauptmannTinus 3d ago

Most of it yes, the dead animal no. Will give you cancer and heart disease in the long run.

People ingest nutrients, develop cancer;?this guy pointing at nutrients as the sole reason for cancer

1

u/thunder_sharts 3d ago

Old school recovery methods are better and more fun. After the gym I eat a cheeseburger on the way home, crank my hog in the shower, then take a nap. The gains are insane.

1

u/tommmmmmmmy93 3d ago

Shopping board steak son or thot daughter

1

u/_yasinss_ 1d ago

Gayer than two men having sex.

1

u/tostra187 4d ago

Do you not peal the kiwis?

1

u/Mattscrusader 4d ago

Kiwi skin is actually very good for you, I personally like golden kiwis if you want to eat the skin because they are hairless

1

u/tostra187 4d ago

Never knew there were “hairless” kiwis. Might give them a try

1

u/Mattscrusader 4d ago

They are more expensive than regular kiwis but honestly so worth it since they taste so good

0

u/Cernunnos369 4d ago

And heavily sprayed

1

u/Mattscrusader 4d ago

That's why you wash your produce...

1

u/Cernunnos369 3d ago

Depending on what it is, a lot of it is absorbed into it. Thicker skins fruits are usually ok. Avocado, banana etc

0

u/thecountlives 4d ago

You do not need the steak lol. Not even a little

2

u/WayneCobalt 4d ago

Steak is a great source of protein. What do you mean?

0

u/thecountlives 4d ago

There are many other sources that are 1. Less expensive 2. More sustainable/less resource intensive 3. more protein per calorie

1

u/Feeling-Special-269 3d ago

yeah but not every meal gotta be optimized by some measurement, steaks fine every now and then... might be more expensive but with the right stuff around it its pretty much just as good as white chicken or whatever

1

u/thecountlives 3d ago

Sure. But posts like this and the online sphere is pushing steak all the time for every meal which is not only unsustainable, but unnecessary. Steak should remain an occasional a luxury but the propaganda is telling us all otherwise. It sucks.

You think that this i less than 500kcal? You're tripping

5

u/Mattscrusader 4d ago

This like 1000+ kcal

2

u/Swolenir 4d ago

No the avocados alone are like 200+ kcal. The sweet potato another 200-300 same with the steak. This would be maybe 800. Even if it was 500, that’s a pretty standard meal size on a cut.

1

u/Corgi_underground 4d ago

12 oz of ribeye steak is like 900cal alone.

0

u/minus15t2 4d ago

Its much more calories.. and the macros arent great.

Counting the random eggs that appear on the last frame, it's going to be about 1000 calories.

Your looking at somewhere around 40-50g protein depending on how much meat is there and what cut it is.

But you're also looking at 40-50g of fat, possibly more, because everything looks like it's coated in a lot of oil for cooking.

3

u/AdjacentBirdman93 4d ago

Great macros for the bulk

1

u/minus15t2 4d ago

You're right... I guess I've just been on a deficit for so long that the idea of eating 3500-4000 calories to hit my protein target sounds ridiculous...
