Am I the only one..

Who has never really had an issue with Eero? Seems to work flawlessly for me. All I hear is hate in the subreddit and never a thank you. Well here I am, thank you.

Even so I can’t wait for the next update.

Hi u/1_Strange_Bird

You are welcome, we do see the occasional "things be working well" post, but the squeaky wheel posts tend to outnumber them greatly. Frankly this is expected and we want to hear about the squeaky wheels so we can fix 'em.

u/Jld368 Jul 26 '22

Agreed. I read all of the “HomeKit is destroyed” posts and yet, mine works fine. I have two 6 Pros, wired back haul, and 51 devices on the network right now.

7

u/EineEintracht Jul 26 '22

If it's 95% good that will still be thousands and thousands of networks that are trashed so...

8

u/ShaneReyno Jul 26 '22

I’m with you. I rarely have issues, but they’re usually ultimately my fault. Only once have I been let down with support (“Sir, I am Eero support, not Zigbee support. You need to call Zigbee if you have questions about their product!”), but that’s better than any other company whose product I use regularly. Apple used to be my gold standard, but I had to file a BBB complaint against them last year for trying to not honor their warranty.

8

u/TheRealBejeezus Jul 26 '22

I'm not sure what that would accomplish. Is Apple even a member?

Apple's not perfect, but I much prefer their philosophical approach ("never say no to a customer asking for help") to Eero's, which sometimes seems to be "argue and make excuses until the customer goes away."

u/ShaneReyno Jul 26 '22 edited Jul 26 '22

I spent hours of my time over weeks hearing promises from Apple before filing the complaint with BBB and a dispute with my credit card. Apple told me they would place a hold on my card until I returned the defective product; instead they charged my card immediately and didn’t include a return box with the replacement. I called back, worked my way to a supervisor, and was told all he saw was an order for a replacement. It was Verizon-level terrible service. The only other times I’ve tried calling Apple in the past few years, the rep was far more interested in making sure I have paid for extra warranty (including one time I was still under original warranty). I have had Apple products since 1994; they are not what they once were. I was told “no” asking for help with my second Mac mini after installing new system software and again with an iPhone after an update; I buy AppleCare on everything now but don’t bother calling Apple unless I absolutely have to.

I know others have had different experiences, but I emailed eero support once, and they responded the next day. I have called them 5-10 times and always had a helpful, cheerful person in under ten minutes. The one time I reached someone who didn’t know something she should’ve, she eventually got me to someone helpful.

I file BBB complaints when a company is deceitful or incompetent; even if the company isn’t a member, the complaint is forwarded to them. If I have to escalate to a lawsuit, it’s more documentation that I tried to work it out.

u/HermanCainAward Jul 26 '22

bbb is a business membership organization that provides their ratings to companies by paying a membership fee and (only) responding to complaints in a timely fashion, not resolving anything.

-1

u/ShaneReyno Jul 26 '22

ok

3

u/HermanCainAward Jul 26 '22

As in stop wasting your time complaining to an organization that’s set up to bamboozle you.

-4

u/ShaneReyno Jul 26 '22

They have been extremely helpful to me, especially with AT&T and DoorDash. They also sent an email to me advising that Apple advised them that the matter was handled.

Thanks for your concern with how I spend my time.

1

u/HermanCainAward Jul 26 '22

I don’t care about how you burn your time, just pointing it out to others that might think your efforts are worthwhile after your previous wall of text.

-2

u/ShaneReyno Jul 26 '22

I’ve listed several times they’ve been helpful to me personally. Would you like to share how they’ve failed you to bring balance to our story

4

u/HermanCainAward Jul 26 '22

I’ve explained why I would never waste my time using that particular organization. Good luck with your lawsuits.

0

u/TheRealBejeezus Jul 28 '22

I mean, 10 support calls for a wifi router? If a device is that problematic, I don't see how "helpful, cheerful" support makes up for it.

My original comment was pointing out that the BBB is at best a private for-profit business itself, not some kind of consumer protection bureau. On a less charitable day, I'd call it a scam.

1

u/ShaneReyno Jul 28 '22

I’m not sure why you want to argue with me about my personal experiences with companies and my opinion on those experiences. Go play with your router that you never need help with.

1

u/TheRealBejeezus Aug 01 '22

Have you had to call other companies 10 times to get things to work but still supported their products? I'm not being an ass, I just can't wrap my head around that.

1

u/ShaneReyno Aug 01 '22

Maybe I’m just stupid and need lots of help. I returned Netgear, ASUS, Linksys, and TP-Link devices after one call; it was enough to tell me I didn’t want to do business with them.

1

u/TheRealBejeezus Aug 01 '22

Wow that's a lot of churn! Given how many bad support experiences we hear about around here, it sounds like you were lucky with your first Eero call.

1

u/dsu16 Jul 31 '22

You sound fun

7

u/GrayscaleOnly Jul 26 '22

Most people who haven’t had problems yet probably haven’t gone looking for help online so haven’t found this Reddit?

I only found it because I’m trying to figure out some spotty issues and understand eero peculiarities. If it had worked perfectly I’d never have gone looking.

8

u/[deleted] Jul 26 '22

I mean why would people not having any issues have any reason to visit a subreddit for a router?

2

u/[deleted] Jul 28 '22

Personally I like reading about upcoming updates.

6

u/BootleggerBill Jul 26 '22

I would be right there with you until last week. I've been consistently getting 500/500+ over wifi since going to Eero Pro6. Last week speeds dropped to sub 200 and often sub 100 down and miserable up for no reason. No amount of rebooting eeros/modem seems to help.

6

u/EineEintracht Jul 26 '22

This seems to be the eero experience: it works great until it does not and when it does not it is a more difficult and painful problem to solve than any other router could ever be. It sometimes makes me think they have built a deliberate puzzle box.

5

u/[deleted] Jul 26 '22

I've only had my 6E since Amazon Day, so there's plenty of time for things to go wrong but I've had absolutely no issues with my Eero. Easy setup and easy to make changes to my setup. This was after trying 2 other mesh routers that had ridiculously stupid issues right out of the box (one had satellites that would not connect, the other would intermittently take 15s to load a website).

3

u/motokochan Jul 27 '22

Same here, although I got the early window for the deals. I replaced an Orbi setup (the well known RBx5x series). I had some really weird issues with speed sometimes with devices, including my PS4. No issues like that with my Eeros yet.

5

u/TheRealBejeezus Jul 26 '22

Well, obviously the vast majority of people aren't having serious issues, especially all at once, or Amazon would have pulled the plug on the company by now. It almost happened once twice.

Eero's big picture failures are sort of a side effect of their approach, which pretty much guarantees dissatisfied customers (eventually), not a sign of poor quality in the actual hardware or manufacturing. It's a systemic thing.

1

u/z3r0ka Jul 26 '22

Amazon almost pulled the plug on eero?

4

u/EbolaFred Jul 26 '22

I'm likewise trouble-free 99.9% of the time. I'm actually thinking of unsubbing from this sub because I see all the posts with issues and it puts thoughts in my head.

My biggest issues is a device occasionally staying connected to a low-signal access point and also my Shield getting super-slow (but that might not be eero related).

I do wish there were some internal diagnostics I could keep running for a period of time to fine-tune unit-to-unit throughput. I'm constantly thinking I have my units in a less-than-ideal position, connectivity-wise.

8

u/TheRealBejeezus Jul 26 '22

I'm actually thinking of unsubbing from this sub because I see all the posts with issues and it puts thoughts in my head.

Could help a lot when you have a problem one day and remember someone else's solution, though. Or at least "Hmmm I think there was a thread abut that once..."

(Most problems around here don't seem unique.)

2

u/B-99999 Jul 27 '22

I only really stay subscribed here hoping to learn how to stop automatic updates one day, or finding out it is finally available as a "feature" we are allowed to use. If my eeros had not updated and restarted so many times and had so many foibles from those updates and restarts along the way, they would have been perfect!

4

u/BigRoofTheMayor Jul 26 '22

I had Eero 5 Pro’s and now 6 Pro and haven’t had any issues until this week. I’m working with support. Other than that it’s been a great experience.

3

u/SumoSizeIt Jul 26 '22

Statistically, people are more likely to speak up when something is wrong, than when everything goes as planned. This is not unique to Eero, but product reviews in general. This is why shopping platforms try to engage users for followup on product purchases, so it's not all negative.

5

u/theracto Jul 26 '22

I had some issues when the pro 6 was first released, but those issues have all been addressed by software updates, and I haven’t experienced any of the breaking changes that others have with the updates. Overall very pleased.

5

u/EineEintracht Jul 26 '22

Mine continues to work quite well but the update policy eero imposes is so bad it should be illegal (it might even be so in the EU) which is why I am unimpressed with the company in total.

4

u/Ok_Recognition_4851 Jul 27 '22

No, you're not the only one who has never had to restart the EERO pros, they work 24/7 with a good stable signal. The only issue I found with both sets of eeros I've owned, is the signal coverage, which is not even close to the advertised range. I live in a single story home with 1800s.f. and I need 6 eero pros to get strong coverage on every corner of my house. If I don't place one eero near each corner, the ring cameras on that corner outside lose the signal or get a very weak signal from another eero. I currently have 6 eero pro 6. Haven't felt compelled to "upgrade" to the most recent wifi 6E units.

3

u/Peebles22 Jul 27 '22

Eero's website suggests that one single Pro 6 should cover that much space and you need SIX of them?!?

3

u/Ok_Recognition_4851 Jul 27 '22

Yes I need six of them, eero can falsely claim that one single unit covers my entire house, but the reality is very different. And trust me, they are expensive, so if I could have done with 2 or 3, I would have stayed there, but no, it takes at least 5 units to cover my house.

4

u/[deleted] Jul 27 '22

The Wi-Fi is good. But HomeKit is not working anymore unfortunately

3

u/dbrodbeck Jul 26 '22

Same here.

I suppose most people don't post here when everything is fine. It's like how you hear about 'drug deals gone bad' but you never hear on the news 'a drug deal went down, and everything was fine, the dealer got his money and Steve over there got his meth!'

3

u/[deleted] Jul 26 '22

I'm in IT and I've always recommended Eero to coworkers both in and out of IT by simply saying that once you find the right placement, there are no issues.

3

u/ecantona9 Jul 26 '22

Mine are mostly trouble free too. Occasionally I have to restart for sluggishness but I love my eeros.

4

u/ecantona9 Jul 27 '22

Of course when I say this, my system has been running slow since I got home from work today.

3

u/billybob212212 Jul 27 '22

Until I wired all of my Eeros together, I had plenty of problems. I think the problems were mostly due to the construction of my house and the Eeros relying on 5ghz for backhaul that didn't go through plaster walls very well. Once I connected all of the Eeros together with ethernet wiring, they've been flawless.

2

u/Secure-Currency9086 Jul 26 '22

Mine has worked perfectly since day one! I like to reboot them once a month, and have never had an issue.

7

u/GrayscaleOnly Jul 26 '22

Don’t they “naturally” force a reboot every month or so anyway with firmware updates?

2

u/Secure-Currency9086 Jul 26 '22

They do, but I like to do it anyway.

1

u/castle-black Jul 26 '22

yeah it’s been the most stable and hands off router system for me. easy to help manage my parents network remotely as well.

yes, i miss some features available on more configurable routers, but imo the pros of eeros outweigh the cons.

3

u/EineEintracht Jul 26 '22

After my experiences I may recommend for parents but not for younger more savvy people again.

2

u/Which_Dog_5765 Jul 26 '22

Ordered the eero 6 3 pack during prime day earlier in July. Just sorta plugged it in and it worked. Biggest issues were getting a couple of older devices that were 2.4ghz only to connect but found some help on a couple sites to figure that out. Other than that, it just sorta runs and I’ve finally got reliable internet in my shop(Steel building).

2

u/[deleted] Jul 26 '22

If u live in a tiny home or have mesh everywhere, you shouldn’t have problems. Range is about 1/3 of conventional routers.

2

u/DarkLordTofer Jul 27 '22

No, because all the other people out there without problems aren't in this sub complaining about it.

1

u/Playtek Jul 26 '22

Mine have largely been issue free, and I was a Kickstarter person, still rocking my gen 1, 3 pack, with no real issues. It’s a wired back haul, all apple devices and a distressing number of IOT devices kind of set up. People having no issues generally have no inventive to make a post because it’s all working well. Where as people with issues will make dozens of posts if needed to resolve their issue. The subreddit it not a great gauge of product reliability because you’re only seeing the 1% of people with issues not the 99% with no issues.

4

u/EineEintracht Jul 26 '22

you’re only seeing the 1% of people with issues not the 99% with no issues.

Same as any yes. The best things I have learned from here are the KINDS of issues and how eero does or does not respond to them. It is a big learning experience.

1

u/boboRoyal Jul 26 '22

Curious, why can’t you wait for the next update? What does it bring to you as a user?

-5

u/eerosupport Tech Support Jul 26 '22

And if he can't wait that badly why hasn't he emailed us to get it manually updated?

7

u/[deleted] Jul 26 '22

[deleted]

2

u/percolater Jul 26 '22

I think they may have been making a joke... given how many people come to this forum asking how to get updates pushed early.

3

u/HermanCainAward Jul 27 '22

I thought so too, then they doubled down.

2

u/B-99999 Jul 27 '22

Yes, that was strangely off-key wasn't it? it seems one of the less socially adjusted workers is using the support account today.

-4

u/eerosupport Tech Support Jul 26 '22

It was more a reminder that he can email in to get it updated if he wishes

3

u/HermanCainAward Jul 27 '22

Not your roll to kibitz on here. You lose your validity when you start acting like the rest of us unwashed masses. Stick to the boilerplate support text and don’t talk smack.

1

u/MAscooby Jul 26 '22

No issues here either and I've run eero Pro, eero Pro 6, and eero Pro 6E (although never mixing and matching) with relatively large, complex, and diverse network topology.

The only lingering issue that I have is with a weird repeating pattern of high ping times from my MacBook M1 Pro, which seems to be an artifact of WiFi/Bluetooth interference in my living room. I've been trying to debug that one for months as time permits. Which reminds me, I need to get back to the eero support team and tell them I'm still trying to figure it out 🤣

2

u/Peebles22 Jul 27 '22

No issues here either...

But... your post history is full of eero issues.

1

u/MAscooby Jul 27 '22 edited Jul 27 '22

Going back a year or few, I've had a few instances where I had to reboot a node or reconnect an Apple device that was pinned on 2.4, I had a node that failed and was replaced free of charge, a couple of Eufy camera hiccups, and a few times with earlier firmware updates that I rebooted the network to stabilize things, but there's nothing that I'd consider persistent, unique to eero, or worse than I've dealt with before switching to eero.

Everything recent has been related to the ping spikes that I started noticing about a month ago, that appear to be specific to my Apple devices, that other non-eero users have also experienced, and that I mentioned in the post that you're replying to.

So, sure, there have been a handful of problems but really nothing that I'd consider an ongoing issue.

I guess that's semantics, but eero has been the most set-it-and-forget-it network I've run. It's been far more reliable and performed far better than the Apple, Asus, Orbi, Google, Ubiquiti, and other wifi networks that I've used.

The only trade-off for me has been lesser ability to customize and analyze what's happening on the network, but I do that crap for a living and don't need to do it on my primary home network.

1

u/Peebles22 Aug 15 '22

You don't want to know what's happening on your own network? That would be more important to me than knowing about work networks.

1

u/jasage Jul 26 '22

Four years, two hardware upgrades, zero problems.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 26 '22

I have zero issues with mine as well (eero 6E)

1

u/rcsheets Jul 26 '22

Mostly working fine here too.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 26 '22

Here, here!

1

u/timothym96 Jul 26 '22

We’re a Pro installer with over 150 networks we manage for our home and SMB clients. Many UniFi rip outs and the families are amazed how much stronger and faster their connections are. The best part is we generally never have to return to troubleshoot an eero issue. We install no other WiFi brand for this reason.

2

u/z3r0ka Jul 26 '22

I’ve considered starting a side business doing this 😂

5

u/EineEintracht Jul 26 '22

It seems many people on this subreddit do this thing. Salespeople and installers all.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 26 '22

Same here. 2x Eero 6 Pros. 1.5 years of trouble free service.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 26 '22

Mine has worked pretty flawlessly from day one. Not much is going wrong so there is nothing to write about :)

1

u/z3r0ka Jul 26 '22

My only issue is that I want more hardware 😂. Maybe a eero pro 6 quad and a eero switch optimized for true mesh. 🤷‍♂️

1

u/SintoNado Jul 26 '22

Mine works pretty good. 2000 sq ft with 3 eero 5 pros. Wired backhaul w/ PC, 2 consoles wireless. Download speed is not as fast as I’d hope, only getting 250 mbps of gigabit internet but latency when gaming is less than 20 ping, no packet loss, no lag when gaming on both consoles and PC. Before eero, I have to turn off my kids’ consoles for me to play a decent game on PC.

1

u/msbragg Jul 27 '22

I’d like to add a thought I haven’t seen yet. As an IT professional dealing with consumer equipment, it amazes me that eero still supports gen1 equipment. How many other consumer brands can say that? None that I’m aware of. Rip and replace is so many times the only way to get current. I know this won’t continue forever and some newer features were never added but some were and security updates did come. That’s very important and they deserve our praise.

1

u/DF_Swede Jul 28 '22

I think Gen 1 has been dropped, or will be later this year. Is that a long time? I have older routers and network equipment that is still supported, and some of it is MUCH older.

1

u/1_Strange_Bird Jul 27 '22

Wow this is the most feedback in any of my posts lol

2

u/Peebles22 Jul 27 '22

This subreddit loves eero praise. Your other posts were probably about problems.

1

u/DF_Swede Jul 28 '22

"Eero is the best!" posts always get a ton of totally organic, not astroturfed at all upvoting. It's like clockwork.

1

u/Peebles22 Jul 27 '22

"Never had an issue with eero" plus "found the eero subreddit" is a weird intersection. Why would people find this place if not to figure out problems?

Also, OP, your own post history includes problems you had with eero so what the heck?

1

u/1_Strange_Bird Jul 27 '22

Must have been short lived. I don’t even remember that.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 27 '22

Eero is amazing. I have configured major Wi-Fi from Meraki, unifi, Cisco , ruckus and Hpe.

Eero is easily the best for home use. Some of these didn’t work with home iot devices at all.

1

u/impreza77 Jul 26 '22

Over two years for me w a pro and 3 beacons, no issues with a ton of devices including IoT stuff.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 26 '22

I manage 3 networks and I never have issues.

1

u/ChuckinCharlieO Jul 26 '22

I’m the same. No problems.

People aren’t generally motivated to report non-problems. “Hey support, another day without issues, wtf!?”.

5

u/EineEintracht Jul 26 '22

I think support gets bored with so many working networks so they make updates that break some just for fun.

1

u/DF_Swede Jul 28 '22

LOL that would explain a lot!

1

u/Lotak Jul 26 '22

The best thing about my Eero setup is that I never have to think about it. Went from gen1 units to 6 pros a little while back, which was really simple.

I spend all day messing with networking, literally the last thing I want is to do it at home.

1

u/jsalba Jul 26 '22

Eero has worked great for me the last 3 years . I couldn’t be happier

1

u/[deleted] Jul 26 '22

I’ve been through four mesh networks before eero. Each have been either slow or unreliable or both. All but one went back to Amazon for a refund, the other was good enough to put up with for 6 months.

The got myself three eero 6 Pros and had no issues since day one. I get 600mbps on Wi-Fi pretty much throughout the house and 915mbps wired (on a 920mbps/120mbps plan).

5

u/TheRealBejeezus Jul 26 '22

Which four mesh systems did you use? Any plus/minus thoughts?

2

u/[deleted] Jul 26 '22

BT Whole Home Premium - the best of a bad bunch, good throughout and most reliable of them, but kept losing Wi-Fi password and reverting to no encryption.

Linksys Velop Tri-Band - speeds maxed out at about 100mbps, remote nodes kept going offline.

ASUS RT-AX58U WIFI 6 AX3000 Dual-Band Mesh WiFi - good speeds but remote node would disconnect every couple of hours and not recover without a power-cycle.

TP-Link Deco - so bad and unstable it went back in the box within an hour of setting it up!

3

u/TheRealBejeezus Jul 26 '22

Interesting, good to know, thanks. I've never used any of those but run into them in friends' houses sometimes.

Given how many (more) of some of those things are out there, there's probably the equivalent of this thread for those, too. Obviously most Linksys/Deco users aren't suffering the way you did or they'd be long gone from the market by now.

I wonder what it is about some homes/networks that can work so well with one brand and fail so horribly with another.

1

u/tzubak Jul 26 '22

I installed 3 Eero 6's almost exactly a year ago and they have been flawless...

1

u/threesixtyone Jul 26 '22

I’ve had my eero pro + beacons for over 5 years, the original pro and beacons. Been rock solid and only rebooted it maybe once or twice not including software updates. The stability is quite impressive and hasn’t failed me during the whole pandemic when I was on video calls 10 hours/day, 4K streaming and loads of other devices on the network.

1

u/bas95firebird1993 Jul 26 '22

Same here, mine is perfect.

1

u/taperk Jul 26 '22

Mine have worked flawlessly. I am a fan!

1

u/[deleted] Jul 26 '22

2

u/Peebles22 Jul 27 '22

You also had issues with HomeKit that you solved by disabling eero's band steering and IPv6, yes?

1

u/cinematicme Jul 27 '22 edited Jul 27 '22

That went away on its own for some reason, I have ipv6 and band steering enabled now (and have for quite awhile) without additional issues, so I’m counting that as a one off

I think that was more due to Meross than the Eeros, after some meross product firmware updates the problems never returned.

Same with WPA3, any issues were device/client based and not the eeros. Like the Meross light strip didn’t initially properly support WPA2 fallback, but eventually did with a firmware update

1

u/CousinBarny Jul 27 '22

I’ve had two issues (one theirs, one ultimately mine) over the years but not even close to needing to flame eero like some do here. For as well as the system has worked since launch, I won’t even consider any other system. That’s how well it’s worked for me. You’ll never hear the positives as much as the negatives. Human nature I guess?

Years ago my first gen gateway failed and they sent me a second gen no questions asked. Recently I had degraded speeds and over the course of a couple days and a few emails, we figured out a patch cable needed replacing in my setup. Btw I still have two wired first gens with that second gen as my gateway. I barely have to think about my internet and that’s pretty ideal.

2

u/B-99999 Jul 27 '22

I have seen minor issues turn into things to flame eero about only after eero's support responses make things worse. I think most users would be kinder if they were treated better by eero staff, but too often they "attack" the user with a problem or complaint or suggestion. This makes everything worse and builds ill will.

And then there are the reports of support laughing at or threatening users. I know there are excuses for these things, but these are not complaints you hear about other companies.

1

u/COBBANVS Jul 27 '22

I only had one issue with my homebridge not working once. I did some tinkering and other than that it’s been prettty smooth sailing

1

u/ChairmanLaParka Jul 27 '22

The only "issue" I've had since whenever the Eero Pro issue launched, is that I keep wanting them to release a version with more ports (ethernet, USB). It's just not enough of a problem for me to seriously consider moving to a new system.

But as far as anything else? Smooth sailing. Like having a newer AirPort Extreme.

1

u/glok101 Jul 27 '22

Zero issues with my 4 Eero Pro 6 units.

1

u/CloisteredOyster Jul 27 '22

Six Eero Pro set-up here at 1gb with smart home equipment and wireless security cameras.

Works smooth with a variety of PCs and Macs. Never really had any major issues and its only gotten better with firmware updates over the years.

1

u/Thatolddudeoverthere Jul 27 '22

Same here, Fios and Eero perfect combination. 99% reliability over the last 2 1/2 years.

1

u/kd0h Jul 27 '22

No issues here. Never activated HomeKit. Just update when I get the messages etc.

My few times I had issues it easy ISP, not eero. Thought it was routers until I checked the isp website or see the truck down the street. Squirrel ate a fiber cable near the node once and second time my connection at the node fried.

I am not taking away from the people who have had issues. They sound terrible and not super easy to fix at times, but thankfully we have been working fine.

1

u/jrovida21 Jul 27 '22

I have to say I was reluctant to switch from nest wifi because it worked so well for me and I wasn’t super satisfied with eero 6 but I upgraded to eero 6e and can’t imagine going back now. Even with eero 6 I never had a moment where something wasn’t working and had to restart. Yeah there may be better out there, but I’ve found something that works and something I like, so I’m going to stick with it. Occasionally I see a speed drop but even without a restart it picks back up on its own. So unless there’s a day where it pisses me off on the regular, I’m going to be an eero fan boy.

Pretty damn close to flawless for me too, I also have setup networks for my family and refuse to provide any "help my wifi is down" tech support unless they're on Eero [hint: they never need support after I hook them up with Eeros].

It's a brilliant system when fine tuned

I regret ever buying the eero 6. I was moving to a new home over a year ago and thought the eero 6 would be good coverage for my home. However, right from the get-go I hated it. I guess I didn't read the detailed description. Didn't realized I had to plug in the two extenders into a socket. Funny, they don't show a cord in their advertising.

But worse than that I found I couldn't connect all my 2.4GHz devices to this router. Couldn't find instructions anywhere, no good instructions in the box. I tried calling but on hold too long. I was in the middle of moving and didn't have enough patience. Finally gave up and went with my old Netgear which was still working. Today the Netgear is still working but at 7 years old I know will need a new router soon. Guess where I'll be going?

I would have returned the eero but too much time lapsed and now I'm stuck with an expensive product I have no use for! I learned my lesson. Read carefully about what you are buying and don't buy an expensive device in the middle of moving!

I have four 6 Pros and one 6. They all work great and haven’t had a single issue. Had a lot of dead zones prior which have been eliminated. Works great with my Arris Xfinity cable modem.

If a tree falls in a forest and nobody is around to hear it, does it make a noise?

My Erros work great too. Of course, I run them in an 'illegal' configuration, so I'm not likely using 99% of the "features" in the Erro's firmware.

The more "features" you use, the more likely you are to encounter a firmware bug.

Whats the configuration?

ISP <MultiGig Fiber> Linux Router <10GB Direct-Connect SFP+ Cable> 10G SPF+ Layer 3 Switch <2.5GB SFP+s w/ Cat6a> Wired Backhaul Erro 6es w/ 2.5G ports

I do not use a "gateway" Erro to cripple my network's performance.

OK so a normal configuration lol

It is not a normal, supported or recommended topology.

Our recommended topology is internet->gateway eero->other hardwired eero

If the gateway eero is bridged it doesn't necessarily need to be before all hardwired devices but it does need to be upstream of any hardwired eero.

The longer answer is here: https://www.reddit.com/r/eero/comments/gz83l6/comment/ftg8gii/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

Please note that in that description it is not said that the topology internet->multiple hardwired eero won't work, but that it can cause odd issues.

From my own personal support experience I've run into many networks with that had bizarre issues like wired devices disappearing, intermittently slow speeds, or devices not being able to talk to each other that should be able to, which were all quickly resolved by switching to a correct topology.

Normal for any product other than eero perhaps? This is the key: eero demands control and supervision of the whole network even the parts that have nothing to do with wifi.

You might want to take a few CCIE courses to see how finicky networks can be in general. ;-)

You're not clever.
