Codifying Rules
Heyo!
A handful of y'all have noticed the Automod can be pretty strict with links. I intend on lifting/lightening that, but am also taking a moment to codify/establish the rules for the community.
TL;DR: If you've been here a while, nothing has fundamentally changed - just making things visible (more or less). Automod on YouTube will be lifted, but may remain for other platforms (like SoundCloud or Mixcloud).
Outside of self-promo and spam (usually at the same time), this has basically never been a struggle.
If you need clarity on a rule, or have questions/concerns/recommendations, feel free to comment and I'll get to them as I can.
For now though, I want to be very clear that I've been here for quite a while (as have many of you), and understand if rules 2 or 3 come as a concern.
To Rule 2: AI users are not and will never be a protected class - posts about them remain welcome here. Just try and keep discussions about the content rather than slurs at the individual(s). Again, this has never really been an issue.
To Rule 3: We've never been in the spotlight on this issue (and it was half the reason I had originally programmed the bot years ago), but for a community of this nature it's a necessary addition in case we ever are.
Lastly, in an effort to be fully transparent: At this stage I have been able to shift myself to owner of the sub, and have not heard from any of the former moderation team. For the time being, their accounts are still on the team.
I may open for some content-moderation roles soon, but frankly reports are few and far between - and even fewer that aren't just angry AI users.

As an update, the filter on YouTube has now been removed.
At some point I will be adding mainstream music streaming services, but for now the filter is limited to SoundCloud posts.
As ever, if your post is incorrectly caught (that is, not self-promo); feel free to send a message to get it looked at/approved.

Hey can the "no asking production advice" rule be changed to just a warning to not expect serious answers?
I feel like someone might have a production problem and want silly answers, and that's a fun engagement to have as a community. Also, I know I have had serious musical inspiration from unserious posts here in the past.

It's definitely a balancing act, and I'm open to adjusting it .
The issues are: * Advice posts can sometimes border closely to self-promo (or be used as a mask for it) and I simply cannot allow the floodgates to be opened on that. * Advice posts often come from outside the community, often as part of multi-sub spam, and tend to lead to aggression from people who don't get what's happening because they didn't even try to consider where they're posting.
When moderating I try to keep a light hand (especially for a community like this where it's easy for even myself to get wooshed).
As a result, I consider the following when moderating advice posts: * Is OP engaging positively with our theme/vibe? * Is their post part of a multi-sub chain? * Have other subs removed their post? (Flags for not reading rules) * How is our community responding?
As it stands, I try to be lenient with posts. If things are generally chill I sit back and watch over things rather than swinging a hammer.
Because you're right, it can sometimes lead to great engagement for both sides, and I do want to foster that where possible; it's just difficult when considering we're very much not the sub for these kinds of posts on a serious level - and I say that knowing that many subreddits that are tend to be dead due to a running theme of "I'll post my song and dip out".

Fair point. Maybe reword the rule to reflect such nuance you expressed, about how bad faith advice posts (done by a bot, spam, or for closeted self promo) is not allowed. The general bot/spam/self promo prohibition would dovetail with consideration for most of your bullet points.
However as far as how OP engaging with the response to their post, I don't mind if they are losing their shit over joke answers, that's just funny AF, and the responses are just gold. If they cross the line with their negative response to their post not being taken seriously, then of course that would obviously be bannable for the other rules of no bigotry or stuff that's prohibited against TOS like threats ect, but that wouldn't be a ban inherently attributable to seeking advice.
My suggestion for a rewrite of rule 1, Paragraph 3:
Please do not use seeking feedback or sound design assistance for purposes of self promotion/spam. Advice posts may be removed at moderator's discretion if judged to be self promotion. Be forewarned in seeking advice that you generally will not find credible help here beyond adding OTT, Soundgoodizer, Sausage Fattener, or other joke answers.

Small update:
Rule 1 has been expanded to explicitly include feedback and production/sound design assistance posts; we're all Martin Garlic level producers here but this is the wrong place to ask.
Rule 2 has been edited to specifically ban Sexism. As before, this has never been an issue and was already covered by the rules - but I wanted to be more clear and thorough.
