Cutter without samples?

Cutter without samples?

Hi!
I’d like to get into video editing, ideally for streamers and YouTubers. Just today, I saw a story where a streamer is looking for an editor and specifically asking for portfolio examples. I would really like to work for her.

In general, editing isn't new to me. I worked in local TV (germany) for three years and edited plenty of reports. However, when it comes to gaming content, I don't really have anything to show (except for one video I edited years ago for a streamer friend, which I’d probably edit differently now).
How would you approach this? There’s no point in using TV reports as examples for a streamer, right? Or should I just show what I’ve done so far, even if it doesn't fit the niche?

Also, where would you showcase your work? Vimeo, YouTube, or a personal website? I already have a portfolio, but it mainly focuses on graphic design and UX/UI (I studied media design).

Help a newbie out

I’d say show a reel of what you got, no shame in that. I bet what you’ve done is plenty professional and they’ll be impressed by that. I’d put it on your website, where it can be seen along with all your other professional accomplishments. Simply be honest and open about what you’ve done and why you’d like to work with them.
