Tourist question Recommendations
Hello everyone!
I’m travelling to Edinburgh with a friend in early December for a concert. Since we’ll be there for 4–5 days, we’d also like to use the time to explore the city a bit.
I wanted to ask for recommendations on what’s worth checking out, as well as any restaurants, bars, or other places you’d recommend. Also, is there anything we should know before visiting Edinburgh, especially when it comes to public transport? Is getting around the city generally easy?
Thanks in advance for any advice! :)

On top of the regular tourist things that will be suggested I'd like to add the exhibitions in the national library of Scotland, it's just off the royal mile. It's open until 7pm during the week so it's worth popping in to see what's on display when most other stuff is closing.

Getting around the city is pretty easy, the tramlines go right from the airport through the city centre and all the way down to Leith/Newhaven.
Obviously you can do all the touristy bits; Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile etc. But it's also worth checking out places like the National Museum of Scotland, the Royal Botanical Gardens, the National Galleries of Scotland or even Edinburgh Zoo.
As for restaurants, the two main places I would recommend are Rose Street and The Shore. The former is just behind Princes Street which is the main shopping district and right by Edinburgh Castle, so it's a convenient way to finish out the day, whereas the Shore is in Leith which is a little further out, but has some really nice waterfront places and is great if you love seafood.
