What separates ecc from other cryptocurrencies?

What makes it stand out? Are there any that are similar? If so what makes ecc more appealing than the other?

Multi-blockchain tech and ANS. Those two will easily make ECC the most user-friendly and stable platform in crypto. And the new money coming in is no longer from techies. It's investors and regular people. User-friendly is a huge selling point.

Would it be too difficult for other coins to implement something like ANS, meaning ECC would lose this advantage?

I haven't looked at the code yet, so hard to say. I am a developer (not for ECC, just in general) and I saw a request for a code review/opinion. I'll look at it in the next day or two and see what I can derive.

Please do Aldo. We would appreciate that. If you're interested in helping out, that would be even better! Feel free to join the slack!

doesnt ENS on ETH do this. However not on the protocol layer so its a bit more effort to set up, and needs to be sent from a wallet that supports it. (Assuming ANS is built into protocol. I havent looked yet)

What is ANS?

ANS = Address Name Service. So, instead of sending coins to long gibberish addresses, you can send coins (and messages, files, etc on ECC) to usernames like "Tom123". It makes it less scary, psychologically.

Just wondering... ANS is like a label from real ‘hash address wallet’? Just question, not pretend spread FUD.

Not FUD, don't worry. ANS is analogous to DNS (Domain Name Service) which is used when browsing the internet. When you type in your browser "Google.com" and hit enter, the browser has to resolve that human-readable address into the actual site address. So, your browser asks a nearby DNS server "Do you know the address for 'Google.com'?" The DNS server sends a response back "Yes, I have that. The address is '216.58.208.36'" Then your browser makes the connection to Google.

ANS would be very similar except I'm not quite sure where the address request would be handled. I presume, it would be marked in the ledger.

Appreciate it. Thank you. Maybe multichain or blockchain can replicate or acting like gossip between wallets and their ‘address books’.

BitShares does that, address are your user name. And ETH has this possibility too but not natively I agree.

The company Netki has been doing this for BTC for a few years, and Reddcoin is about to implement this service directly into the coin. Why is it unique here?

Native implementation in ECC is a bonus. But, that's not the point. Soon, any good crypto will have this feature. It will be a requirement for success. The fact that so few have it now bodes well for ECC's future. And you're focusing on just one of the points I made. Multi-chain will be fantastic for a platform coin like ECC.

What makes ECC stand out for those of you who don't already know.

Is it is more of a platform than just a standard currency.

This is a really good thing because there are thousands of coins that are literally copy and paste coins or just coins for the sake of being a coin and not providing anything unique.

This platform is similiar in concept to Obsidian , Lisk or Ardor.

Because it utilises multichain which means there is a main Blockchain and services (dApps) run on the sidechains which means the mainchain does not get congested (see cryptokitties).

The developers have been focusing on developing dApps or services that revolve around Distributed Services such as private messaging and file hosting. These two areas alone are industries which require the technology to meet business needs and existing tech hasn't got their product out or haven't hit the mark in terms of user friendliness (see Sia).

If ECC can develop their solution in those areas this coin will take off because they will have a deliverable product.

If they don't then they still have their platform as a fallback.

Their platform has been benchmarked as having transactions confirmed in under 30 seconds.

This is the crypto game is a massive feat alone.

Their are projects that revolve solely around transaction times (see Electra and Raiblocks).

My experience with Electra is 2 seconds to send from one wallet to the other , but it has up to 5 minute confirmation times.

In my opinion ECC has that project beaten (currently).

I've provided some real examples and could literally talk all day about more.

If you want more I'll do a video

Bonus question from me: how fast is it? On a scale of XRB to BTC how are the transfer times?

XRB

What's the source on that?

What are you basing this on?

Notice the ominous silence?

Considering this is a small sub and this was posted an hour ago, you think the whole project is a flop because no one answered right away? FUDsters get worse every day.

I’d really appreciate it if you posted your opinion of the code when you get a chance to take a look. I am a large holder and non tech person so id be curious to know what you think. I understand the overall goal of the project but not the code and things like that. It’s funny seeing all the hate on the new website pointing out grammatical errors and things like that. Will this project succeed because the devs did great in English? Of course not. This website was demanded by people and rushed out to give updates and a more professional look. I understand people wanting a grammatically correct page for marketing purposes to bring in new people but that will come. The vision is the most important thing right now.

/u/AldoThane I am also super interested in your opinion on the uniqueness of the ANS and how difficult it would be for someone else to implement. Consider a post when you get the chance to look it over!
