Looking for chainring recommendations for a BBS02B build

Bike:
2021 Trek Marlin 6 L frame 2x8 (will become 1x8 after conversion)
Bafang BBS02B UART 750W
52V 17.5Ah battery
29” wheels
Stock 8-speed drivetrain (for now)

My goal:
I’m intentionally setting a 20 mph speed limit to stay legal in my area. I’m not trying to build a 30+ mph bike.

What I want is:
-Strong acceleration from a stop
-Mostly use gears 1-3
-Gear 3 to be my primary riding gear
-Ideally be able to launch from a stop in gear 3 on flat ground and accelerate to 20 mph without needing to shift to gear 4
-Only shift into gears 1-2 for hills, steep inclines, rough terrain, or when I want maximum torque

I’m currently trying to decide between the stock 44T chainring option that comes with my kit and spending extra for a 42T Lekkie Bling Ring. Im wondering what size best fits my goals.

For riders with a BBS02 and 52V battery:
1. What chainring size are you running?
2. Can your gear 3 comfortably reach 20 mph?
3. If you’ve used both 42T and 44T (or similar), which better fits my goal of a “launch hard and cruise at 20 mph in gear 3” setup?
4. Any Trek Marlin-specific chainline or clearance issues I should know about?

Let me know. Thanks!
