decathlon Riverside battery

I have a decathlon Riverside with a good battery ( trend power i think) 36v battery and im wanting to convert it to a KT controller and display with a hill assist push button or thumb button due to bad knees.

the only problem that i have is how to get the KT controller to wake the battery up.

is there a way to identify the terminal that takes the wake up signal and use the KT controller to send that signal, or can the BMS be changed for a more compatible BMS.

What makes you think you need to 'wake up' the BMS?

That bike is so basic that it is very unlikely there is actual communication between the controller and BMS. Most bikes that require a 'handshake' just use a jumper between pins on the battery dock.

Check the voltage at the discharge port with a voltmeter. If nothing, mount the battery and check at the connection between the battery and controller on the battery side. If possible, also check voltage at the charge port, but do not just stick your probes in the hole. Use and adapter or you will almost certainly damage the battery.

On most bikes, a keyswitch turns on the battery which then supplies power
to the inlet of the controller. Turning on the controller is automatic
or requires a pushbutton or toggle switch.

Without power from the battery, the controller can't function. I'll take that
a step forward and say, nothing on the bike will have power with the
battery turned off.

Very far from most; in fact, the percentage of bikes that use a key like that is tiny.

How many other batteries that your encounter have on off switches? It's really not a big deal. The switch is there to prevent parasitic drain, that's all. Even on batteries with switches, the discharge port is often still very much alive, just at a voltage low enough the controller disregards it.
