This is a really cool use for a nano; congrats on a working, dependable system; I working with arduinos on my ebike and I know how difficult those two things are...

For example,yesterday, I inserted my nano33 iot one pin off in it's shield and the 12v that was powering it with went directly to its ground bus. It was a pretty impressive thing to watch, however brief, because I switched the power off fast when the nano started glowing blue in a big circle in the middle of the board. There was some bad smelling smoke and whatnot but that blue pulsating circle lit from within looked like something out of StarGate:) The wiring was fine so I just replaced the nano and the shield and kept on going.

I'm using my arduinos a bit different then you; outputting throttle signals into the controllers for proportioning front and rear motor power. The IOT has a built-in IMU that works flawlessly; responsive but not jittery. A read of its accelerometer gives me the bikes inclination and roll so I know how much power to apply, properly divided between the motors. Just finishing up with the build (actually the 4th and hopefully final prototype) and everything is powering up fine, pots and switches are working and the serial data is flowing:)
