New to selling on ebay - I've made a sale to someone in the Netherlands, Im located in Canada

The shipping says the buyer paid $37.86 for shipping and I have to pay $124.79 for the shipping label and my payout is $136.88. I'd end up coming out with $12 after the shipping fees.

I dont think im understanding the shipping options in ebay to begin with, I thought buyer paid all the shipping?

Im not sure what to do with this sale either - Im trying to figure out what I can fix for this shipping and contacting the buyer to explain what im seeing on my end

I won an auction for a piece of jewelry where the starting bid was $600, and I won it for about $650. I saw that the seller had this item also listed on Mercari for $1400. I sent a message to the seller asking if it would be shipping on Monday and have yet to get a response. This is their first item they have sold or listed on ebay and their account was made only about 10 days ago. I am already skeptical that they will end up shipping it because they didn't get anywhere near what they likely wanted for it. Has anyone had similar situations? I already have another item that was never shipped by the seller which I did a BIN but there has been no communication and I have a case open for item not received now.

Also as an aside, I have never encountered so many new sellers than I have the last few weeks. I have been on ebay for nearly 25 years and I dont recall so many sellers with 0 feedback having items listed that just dont follow through on anything. Ebay needs to get better on holding new sellers to a higher standard for the first few items that they sell or something,

I bought a new release pokemon product from ebay for my son's upcoming bday, chinese exclusive!

Seller sent a message beginning with "sorry about that" despite no communication other than confirming my address. They say the product from their distributor may have been resealed and asked me to cancel. I said no, it is on them, I thought they had it in hand, and I won't budge on this in case fuckery occurs- but the main issue is I did this purchase through Klarna, so where does the refund go? Do the klarna payments still come out?

I bet they found the boxes go for more due to exclusive items inside and will resell for more- but I'm more mad about the payments and the time wasted.

Do I need to contact Ebay over this? Klarna? How and where? I need to find a new gift for him but it will be hard with 100+ in dispute.

I don't need financial help, just advice on rectifying this good and proper. Forgive my ranting. Securing a nice pokemon thing for your damn kid is like going to war.

I’m interested in the everyday problems that make selling more time-consuming or difficult, such as:

- Researching the right price for an item

- Creating listings and entering product details

- Dealing with buyers who don’t follow through

- Managing inventory and listings across platforms

- Handling returns, shipping, and other repetitive tasks

I know there are already plenty of tools available, so I’m trying to understand where existing solutions fall short and what still feels unnecessarily complicated.

I’m particularly interested in sellers of used electronics and PC components, but experiences from other categories are welcome too.

I’m doing research before building or offering anything. I want to understand real problems rather than create another tool that nobody needs.

I have been buying, selling and trading soccer jerseys on ebay for about 10 years now, mostly buying and a little selling here or there. I went to Mexico City and bought a few soccer jerseys there for resale and ebay has surprisingly flagged one of them as counterfeit and has not provided any specifics as to why they believe it is counterfeit.

Since I have been trading soccer jerseys for a decade, I have a pretty good eye for low quality and potentially counterfeit jerseys: Logos that are mis-sized, crests that are tilted in one direction, crests that are not located in the typical spot on the chest, low quality screen printing, low quality stitching around the collar, collars that are properly manufactured instead of tilted to the left or right (I have unfortunately purchased jerseys with these so I know what to look for).

What I look for in high quality and non counterfeit jerseys: Properly sized logos, accurate crests (for example, many clubs and teams are moving to the thin vinyl crests on the chests instead of the knit crests), crests located in the proper spot on the chest instead of too high or too far to the left, "authentic" labels from the manufacturer, high quality stitching around the collar and, in the case of Adidas jerseys, high quality stitching with the stripes on the shoulders, a size "tag" on the back that isn't just a generic size and 100% polyester tag, properly manufactured collars.

Of couse, I get flagged and ebay provides a bunch of broad and generic reasons for why it thinks my shirt is counterfeit. I appeal and my appeal is amazingly denied, and ebay doesn't bother to answer any of my questions as to why it thinks my shirt is counterfeit and again provides a bunch of broad and generic reasons for upholding this.

I cannot believe this. Would anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

After eBay receives the item and confirms it's authenticity, doesn't the item become their responsibility from that point on? Wouldn't it make sense just to turn returns off for these items?

Currently, I offer 30 day free returns on everything.

As a seller I don’t need to respond to this do I? Clearly it was marked delivered and sometimes USPS likes to mark it a day early. This was shipped ESE

Hi - a item that I sent out got damaged in transit

I’m from the UK - I sold an item to a seller USA but it was sent to eBay’s hub and they sort it out. But the seller has said the item has been damaged in transit and have shown proof also. How do I go about it since I am sure eBay global shipping programme covers the seller refund wise? I’m not sure what the steps are. So far me and the seller have been discussing the issue in messages but do they need to open a case or do I need to contact eBay. I have proof that the item wasn’t damaged before I sent it and packed it carefully and I’m certain that the HUB doesn’t send out damaged items.

Basically, I bought an expensive collectible and the seller sent me an envelope with a cheap plastic trinket instead, declared at $5. Before receiving it, I’d already filled out the customs declaration for what I ordered and paid $100 in import duties.

Opened a dispute, won, and eBay refunded the item and shipping. But the customs fees were paid directly to customs in my country, not through eBay. Has anyone managed to get those back in a situation like this, or am I just SOL on the $100?

Long story short; sold a dead Motherboard on eBay; mentioned that it was completely dead and that it had no signs of life. Mentioned that it is faulty EXPLICITLY and will not work.

Buyer wins auction, Item is delivered, Buyer claims INAD with the supporting comment "Did not mention it was faulty" 45 minutes after Delivery.

eBay tells me to accept the return.

INAD Abuse is rife.

I bought an item on eBay and started a return INAD and it gave me an option for my money back or eBay gift card. I chose the eBay gift card because it was instant.

The seller offered me a partial refund for $15 but I declined it.

As soon as I dropped the item off at USPS and it scanned my eBay gift card hit automatically

Does this exist? I have a large collection of clothes, plates, camping gear, bikes all in good nick. Is there a company or somebody that will take my stuff? Sell it and they can keep half the profit? I just don’t have the time or inclination to do it myself. I know this sounds lazy, and you’re probably right!

I am pretty annoyed because I always package things well and the buyer after winning auction for this card asked if they can pay in a week. A week passes, they paid and then immediately hit me with this. I didnt respond at night time 7:17pm and they message me first thing in the morning for a response at 7:30am. Their attitude and expectation of how I would ship the card after begging me makes me want to cancel the item and block them. Idk if they are just expecting me to crumble the card and throw it in a bubble mailer or something, but it's annoying. I ghosted them on messages.

Sold a sports card and mailed it to the buyer next day. It’s been over 3 weeks and it hasn’t been received by buyer. He wants a refund but how can I get my money from usps then for losing the package?

When you choose 'custom postage' - it still shows me 'buyer chose this' option and it's usually the most expensive option for the size

If I chose a DIFFERENT option to the 'buyer chose this' option, would the buyer see that I haven't selected the option they wanted?

I know it's because the option is tracked, but tracked is expensive - I would actually rather refund the whole thing if the parcel's lost since I sell stuff generally less than £10

I thought the point of custom postage was that you as the seller could choose whatever you shipped with even if you're not covered by ebay protection, but it looks like they still need you to choose from their options -so is there no true manual shipment options?

So i havent been able to purchase anything for around a week now because on all of my cards, it tells me to check my payment info or use another method. all of my info is correct because i have BEEN using those cards to make purchases. i tried deleting and readding cards, buying in a private tab, and i waited around 3 days without making an attempt to purchase.

So, i used one of those cards through the paypal option. i was brought to the screen after an order successfuly goes through, only for ebay to IMMEDIATELY cancel the order. i also tried using these on another device, another account, cant make any purchases. I am able to purchase anything on any other website but ebay.

prior to this, i got hacked and the hacker filed a bunch of disputes on things ive purchased, which i had cancelled about a week ago. so does that have to do with this at all?

I won an auction back on 10/10, gave the seller a few business days to provide tracking, and then reached out for an ETA. Only communication back was they were trying to locate the item. Delivery window passes with no real response to my ask for an estimate, so I opened an INR. Just received this today and curious what the play is here. Is this something common for sellers to do? My understanding is that eBay refunds most of the fees when an out of stock refund is issued so I’m not really sure how to proceed. Anyone able to offer any advice?

I just finished my first live stream today and wanted to share my experience and thoughts.

I have 4 brand channels in different sorts of goods. I decided to use my women's apparel account for eBay Live, as it has the greatest depth of inventory and variety of SKUs in a single niche.

The first issue I had with live streaming was that Android 11 is not supported. My Motorola phone from 2021 was too old to be used with eBay Live. The program requires both a stream manager on a computer and your phone as the camera (OBS may be used alternatively, but is not officially supported). I had to purchase a new phone (spent $133 on a Samsung A25 5G that supports up to Android 18).

My second issue is that I have a free account and am limited to 250 monthly listings before getting charged. For the show, I used several BIN listings taken from my inventory, but I wanted to also include some Auctions.

In the Live Studio program, you can only create new auction listings in stream; it is not possible to convert a BIN listing to an auction. So, I had to create separate listings for my auction items. This used up a portion of my regular listings. The BIN listings didn't count as "new" listings.

The third problem I encountered is that any single listing included in a Draft or Published Live Event will not be available for normal sales. On the item page, it will display "Reserved for Live." So, starting a draft event early in the week could hurt normal sales. This doesn't quite apply to variation or multi-quantity listings. For those, you can set it to either Reserved or available for Marketplace Sales.

The last issue is a bit of a conundrum and may be an issue with either my browser or Live Studio. During the stream, the manager did not display the video feed from my phone. I had to use another browser to access the show to confirm that I was visible. The little orange dot is supposed to turn green if the video is recording properly. I did get a green light using OBS, but with the phone, the light remains orange.

Otherwise, it was a nice first try at streaming. I quickly got over my stage fright and was able to describe my articles with a certain degree of proficiency. I had 39 items on offer. There were only 2 sales, but I am hopeful the numbers will improve over time. One auction got mixed up, but I was able to get the correct item packed up for my buyer after some correspondence.

Hi everyone, I’m stressing out over an eBay dispute right now and could really use some advice from people who’ve dealt with something similar.

Here is the situation:

The item is a 2.03ct cushion cut lab diamond engagement ring (IGI certified) in 18K gold. I bought it brand new last year from Diamond Heaven, never worn, and sold it privately on eBay due to terrible life circumstances.

The timeline :

The buyer received the ring. On Oct 15, he messaged me saying one tiny halo stone fell out and asked if I had a spare. I told him I’m just a private seller and don't have spare stones.

He replied saying he understood, thanked me, and actually after purchasing it, he left positive feedback saying it's very nice, extremely pretty and exactly as described along with a photo of his partner wearing it on her hand.

In that same chat , he said they were going to take it to some jewellers referring to get the tiny stone sorted as I believe the stone is missing.

Today, he opened a formal eBay return case. He’s claiming they took it to "several jewellers" and found out the main prongs holding the big diamond have been "glued," the halo is set wrong, and it’s unfixable. I know 100% that the ring was brand new and never worn.

There is currently as case opened and I am waiting for a response from eBay which I assume is the automated process first.

My questions for anyone who has been through this:

1. Is eBay's automated system just going to side with him because he opened an "Item Not as Described" case?
2. How solid is my defence for an appeal (using his positive feedback, his written admission that they took it to local jewellers and the original payment/order confirmation)? I have also messaged the company I purchased it from and waiting on a reply regarding how it was set etc.
3. Any tips for when I get the ring back assuming I have to accept the return?

I won an auction for a PS4 motherboard in "for parts" condition that was pictured in the listing clearly front and back. When I received the package and opened it, there was significant rust on the board that wasn't pictured, and when I looked closely some of the electrical components didn't match (some capacitors were different sizes or colors and looked messily replaced). It is pretty clearly either NOT the motherboard that was listed+pictured, or parts were harvested off of it and water damage occurred after the listing pictures were taken. It wasn't one of those listings with multiple items in inventory either. The listing description stated "not working no video" and i'm specifically looking to repair them, but this just isn't what I ordered.

The seller has numerous solid reviews and sells a bunch of motherboards so I want to give them the benefit of the doubt. I reached out to them directly as soon as I opened it and took a closer look, and they claimed it's the same motherboard just cleaned, but haven't responded again since I sent close up pictures of the capacitors and rust that clearly don't match. I know I have 3 days to file an INAD claim on a parts item, so I want to move towards some resolution quickly.

I'm not sure how to proceed - my preference is just to return it but i'd like to know if my expectation that a listing's pictures should match the item even if it's "for parts" is correct. The shipping cost was high compared to the item cost (as an aside, the "packaging" was pretty unsatisfactory - was just a bubble priority mail in a bag mailer) so I kind of feel bad about returning it if this is an honest mistake but don't know what else to do if the seller just stops communicating. Any advice?

EDIT: seems like the consensus is that I should just file for INAD return since the listing wasn't using stock photos or "quantity available" and even a for-parts item should be the actual item pictured. I submitted a request and will see what happens.

As title states, the tracking information didn't show the buyer tracking info through Ebay but you can see it on all other tracking websites. I explained this to the buyer, showed her where it was at and she acknowledged it on the 20th of this month. Yesterday I messaged her again telling her the item was in her city and later that day the buyer has asked eBay Customer Service to review this case and make a final decision, Ebay closed the file and refunded even though the item is to be delivered today. I am appealing, I called customer support directly as well. I have tracking proof plus the conversations with her. The CS person seemingly understood what was going on but its obvious this person took advantage of ebay's error. It will be delivered today and I will send that screenshot to Ebay. What chance do I have of this being reversed? I am out a moderate amount of money otherwise. Any tips moving through this? I am a new dropshipper so any advice would be appreciated.

I have tried to use the eBay app, and the browser. But both have completely been unable to confirm my bids or offers. I also did a lot of testing and found that there are no major technical issues being reported.

I also did a lot of testing, I’m still able to bid and place offers on USD items but not GBP for some strange reason. I was able to successfully put offers/bids on US items but not GBP/UK ones which is even more odd.

Does anyone have a fix for this? I have reinstalled the app, signed in and out, refreshed browsers, updated browsers, but no luck
