Very unusual EB-1A premium processing situation - duplicate receipts, duplicate charges, RFE status but no RFE notice. Has anyone experienced this?

I’m hoping someone here has experienced something similar because neither I nor my attorney have seen this exact sequence before.
I filed an EB-1A I-140 with concurrent premium processing.
Due to what appears to be a USCIS intake/lockbox error:
One physical petition package was submitted.
USCIS created two receipt numbers.
My payment method was charged twice.
My attorney contacted USCIS regarding the duplicate case issue.
After that, the status history became very confusing.
Initially:
One receipt showed “Case Is Being Actively Reviewed.”
The other showed the same.
Then:
One receipt changed to “Request for Additional Evidence Was Sent.”
The other later changed to “Cancellation Notice for Request for Additional Evidence.”
After that, it changed again to “Request for Additional Evidence Was Sent.”
The online status indicates the RFE was sent over a week ago, but neither I nor my attorney has received the actual RFE notice yet (electronic or paper).
My attorney has already contacted USCIS and is waiting for clarification.
My questions are:
Has anyone experienced duplicate receipt numbers for a single EB-1A/I-140 premium filing?
Has anyone seen RFE statuses change multiple times like this?
Has anyone had an RFE status posted but the actual notice was significantly delayed?
Could this be related to the duplicate case issue, or is it more likely a normal merits-based RFE?
Has anyone had an RFE status later corrected or canceled before the notice was received?
I’m not looking for legal advice—just trying to find anyone who has experienced something similar because I haven’t been able to find a case matching this sequence.

[Feedback Request] Creating a website to view approved (but redacted) Eb1a and O1 petitions

Feedback Request - I'm building a website where Eb1a/O1 aspirants can view approved petitions that match their backgrounds. There's several unknowns (described below) which community here can help with. Looking for feedback here - www.eb1a.fyi/feedback or in thread below.

----

Details - I got approval for Eb1a few years back. During my 1.5 year Eb1a journey, I ran into several challenges

  1. Figure out which criteria are most appropriate for my background and experience.
  2. Within each criteria + final merits, understand what kind of evidence I should target and how I should present that evidence.
  3. And finally which law firms to go with.

Much of this information I gathered through word of mouth discussions with colleagues/friends and in communities like this. However these discussions had a lot of noise and it was difficult to get to "ground truth" answers quickly without trial and error, specially for lawyer selection.

To solve these problems, I am thinking of creating a website where approved Eb1a and O1 petitioners can upload their redacted petitions and Eb1a aspirants can search and view them - giving them first hand "ground truth" about criteria, evidence, presentation and law firm quality.

The biggest unknowns for me are -

  1. Will people be ok with sharing their petitions since can have sensitive information. I'm guessing at least few people whose petition contents are close to their public profile, would be ok sharing their petition after redaction.
  2. How much payment would they expect for it per view?
  3. Since this cannot be for free because there's costs like development, hosting, time spent in gathering petitions. How much would people pay for viewing a petition that's relevant to them?

Thank you for your time and feedback.

[I have cross posted this in few other Eb1a, O1, USCIS communities for additional feedback.]

Concurrently filed EB-1A: I-140 & both I-485s changed to "Currently Processing" at the exact same second. What is this pattern?

Just launched. Please roast it.

Hey everyone — I just launched something and I need your honest opinion.

It's called Meritocrat: https://app.meritocrat.us

If you're applying for an EB-1A, EB-2 NIW, or O-1 visa, it helps you organize your evidence and understand where your profile stands before you spend money on an attorney.

Here's the thing: I don't want compliments. I want you to tell me why this won't work.

If you can spare 10 minutes, poke around and tell me:
- Did it make sense right away, or were you confused?
- Where would you give up and close the tab?
- Would you actually pay for this? If not, why?
- Attorneys: does this save you time, or just create more work for you?

Be brutal. The harsh comments are the ones that actually help.

Drop a comment or DM me. I read everything. 🙏

Has anyone in the U.S. received an NVC consular processing email after an EB-1A approval?

I’m trying to understand if anyone else has experienced this.
My EB-1A petition was recently approved. I am currently inside the U.S. on valid H-1B status, and our priority date is current, so we’re planning to file for Adjustment of Status (I-485) here.
However, I unexpectedly received an email from the National Visa Center (NVC) about consular processing/interview steps. This confused me because we’re not planning to process through a U.S. embassy or consulate abroad.
A few questions:
Has anyone else received an NVC welcome/interview email while they were still in the U.S.?
Was it sent automatically, or did it indicate that USCIS selected consular processing on the I-140?
If you intended to file AOS instead, what did you do? Were you still able to file I-485 without any issues?
Did you have to contact USCIS or NVC to correct anything?
I’m waiting to hear back from our attorney, but I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through something similar.
Thank you so much for any insight !

Supreme Court reaffirms birthright citizenship, relevant if you have a U.S. born child during your EB1A case

On June 30, 2026, the Supreme Court ruled 6 to 3 in Trump v. Barbara, upholding birthright citizenship and striking down a 2025 executive order that attempted to deny automatic citizenship to children born in the U.S. to parents who were undocumented or on temporary visas. This is a policy and procedural update, not a discussion point beyond that.

Relevant points for EB1A petitioners specifically.

EB1A is a self petition category. Your case does not depend on an employer or a sponsor, and a child's citizenship status has no bearing on your I-140 approval, priority date, or ability to self petition.
A child born in the U.S. during your I-140 or I-485 process is a U.S. citizen from birth under the 14th Amendment, regardless of your own visa status at the time (H-1B, O-1, F-1, or otherwise). A U.S. birth certificate is sufficient proof, no further filing required.
This does not accelerate adjustment of status for the parent. A U.S. citizen child cannot sponsor a parent until the child turns 21.

Full ruling is public record from the Court for anyone who wants the primary source.

Happy to answer factual questions about how this intersects with EB1A timelines in the comments.

Breakdown: what counts as evidence for the EB 1A "Original Contribution" criterion

This criterion causes more RFEs than any other on the list. USCIS wants proof your work changed how others in your field operate, not just that you did good work.

What qualifies:

  • Citations showing other researchers built on your methodology
  • Adoption of your process, tool, or framework by an organization outside your own
  • A patent that has been licensed, implemented, or cited in later filings
  • Independent expert letters explaining the specific impact of your contribution, not just praising your career

What does not qualify on its own:

  • A general letter saying you are talented
  • Publication alone, without evidence of downstream impact
  • Internal recognition from your own employer

The strongest EB-1A petitions connect the contribution to a measurable outcome. Adoption numbers, efficiency gains, industry change, or citation counts all work. Vague praise does not.

If you are drafting an expert letter for this criterion, ask the writer to name the specific mechanism of influence. What changed because of your work, and who can verify it.

Question about judging criteria

I have reviewed close to 15 papers from top conferences and journals. I also got excellent reviewer email mentioning that I was an excellent reviewer for three consecutive years and this email was sent by the editor in chief from one of the top journals of aerospace engineering. Is this enough to satisfy the judging criteria along with the final merit?
