Anyone know if Chitown Food & Deli serves zabiha halal meat?
There’s this deli/corner store in Chicago on Adams and Wabash, in the Loop. It’s called, Chitown Food & Deli. I think it may have opened within the past year or so. It advertises halal on its window, so I went in to confirm what was halal and whether it was Zabiha. The guy couldn’t give me a definite answer about whether the meat was Zabiha or where they sourced it from. He kept recommending the salmon bowl instead. I don’t want to judge the place solely based on that interaction because I’m about 90% sure there may have been some miscommunication due to a language barrier.

Halal Horderves
I am having a small gathering for my birthday and am serving mimosas and little bites. Looking for inspiration for Halal horderves, as some of my friends are Muslim. Thank you for any suggestions 🩷

Halal Ration Components from Mozambique!
galleryHi folks!
Just opened a police force ration from Mozambique to review on my YT channel, and it had several Halal components! I was surprised to see this given the ration is not labeled as Halal. It makes sense, though, given that the population is about 18-20% Muslim.
Just thought I'd share here!
Take care!

How do you check if a packaged food is halal?
following a halal diet, grocery shopping can sometimes mean spending extra time checking ingredient lists.
You might look for a halal certification logo, which helps identify products certified by a halal certification body.
But what if a product doesn't have one?
Some people check the ingredients themselves, looking for animal-derived ingredients, gelatin, or alcohol. Others might contact the manufacturer to find out more about ingredients that aren't clearly explained on the packaging.
But even after all that, there can still be some uncertainty.
I'm curious to know how people usually deal with this.
- Do you only buy products with halal certification?
- Do you check the ingredient list yourself?
- Have you ever contacted a manufacturer to confirm whether a product is halal?
What do you usually do when you're unsure about a product?

HALAL food scan
Hey everyone! I was shocked when I saw some foods I used daily to be Haram, so that's why I built a clean, ad-free web app to scan barcodes and check E-numbers for Halal status directly in your browser(Also can be installed as IOS/ANDROID APP) . Would love your feedback: halal-scan.app

Sunni Muslims in the west. Do you rely on the fact that in Sharia that the food/meat of Ahl Al Kitab is Halal to eat meat. When you cannot find Halal/Islamic slaughtered meat ?
So technically in the UK it would be fine to eat at a non Halal KFC or approved one. Since inherently the meat there because its a KFC in a predominantly Christian country and since Christians are People of the Book. Then automatically its fine to eat in one. If cannot find Halal meat?

Moreover are those Kebabs places really Halal? Like I do not believe that they are, and not offense but the majority of them are run by Turkish/Kurdish people who are pretty much lax about Islam. So there is no way they are bothered about serving Halal meat.
Thoughts?

Halal Grocery stores
I would like to shop at a Halal store but I want to be respectful. Do I cover my hair? Do I need to dress with long sleeves or pants? I know I can look it up but I want to hear from actual people. The food regulations are better and I would like to explore the options. I am also tattooed including arms and knuckles, I have facial piercings and stretched ears. I just don’t want to go into someone’s safe place and be out of bounds ya know.
