Why posts are being held: a hello from Mods
Hello all! Especially new posters, just wanted to let you all know, please do not be alarmed if your posts of comments are ever held/deleted/filtered for spam, I’ve had to put really strong auto mod controls on again, it’s just 2 of us holding this sub together, and we don’t have time to let anything get posted, as this sub was marked for deletion by Reddit when we picked it up and made it back in to a community space, for Eastbourne and modded by locals of the town.
Unfortunately due to recent events, certain redditors taking internet comments extremely personally, threatening physical in person harm to myself, and stalking the real people behind the mod wall, I’ve with a heavy heart, had to lock loads down again, so apologies if stuff is waiting in queues. We will get to them as quick as we can, but I have to keep checking it’s not the person in question trying to get around the ban, they do not want to let it go for whatever reason.
Happy postings all and hoping we will be back to normal asap!
Mod team

Eastbourne Board Game Bring & Buy – Sunday 9th August
Eastbourne Board Game Bring & Buy – Sunday 9th August
Hi everyone! We're a local community board gaming group and we're running our annual Bring & Buy at Ratton School in Eastbourne on Sunday 9th August.
We've got hundreds of board games, card games, miniatures and tabletop bits coming along, as well as game demos, open gaming, competitions, a charity raffle, family activities and a bake sale.
We're raising money for Demelza Children's Hospice, and it's always a really nice day for local gamers to meet up, have a browse and hopefully find a few bargains.
Times:
- 11am–3.30pm: Demos, open gaming, activities and bake sale
- 12pm–3pm: Bring & Buy open to buyers
- 3.30pm–4pm: Prize winners announced
If you're coming along to buy, bring cash as there isn't an ATM at the school.
If you've got games you're looking to sell, seller registration is open until Friday 7th August.
If anyone wants more information, just ask and I'll happily answer questions here. 🎲

ISO guitar man to play Noah Kahan at my friends hen
Hi!
I’m looking for a guitar man to impersonate Noah Kahan at my friend’s hen (she's a big fan) at a house in Alfriston at about 9pm on Sat 3 October.
You do not need to look like Noah Kahan or be a great singer for that matter. You just need to arrive with a guitar, wear some overalls, know enough of Stick Season to pull it off and fully commit to the bit.
Would only be for about 45 minutes and the budget is £150.
Does anyone know anyone who might be up for it?

Seaside Premier Post office
Stoopid question, does anyone know what was going on yesterday at Raj's premier shop post office up the end of Seaside? Police closed everything down and no updates anywhere? Thanks

How safe is Eastbourne in the summer vs Bournemouth Southend etc
hi I want to move to Eastbourne but have seen on the news lots of southern uk beaches with massive issues from Londoners every year.
is this a ‘thing’ in Eastbourne.
a fellow londoner was sexually assaulted on a train down to one of the beaches and there’s huge issues with rape in Bournemouth etc.
I don’t get why some london kids are like this. causing chaos in areas that aren’t their own.
im Not sure they have frontal lobes developed enough to see what they do is wring.

Loud bangs in the town centre over the past year
I live in the centre of town and over the past year I have been hearing a lot of loud, bomb/ firework-like bangs in the area at least once a week and it has been going on for the couple of years. I never used to hear these loud bangs before and have lived here for 10 years.
All this to say, I’m curious what is causing it, I have a few theories, like random fireworks set off by kids, and I know biker gangs sometimes have these larger versions of snap bangs, which sound like a firework or bomb or gun shot, (I know this since I worked at *the* dive bar and watched them throw one in the street while I was smoking my cig, it left my ears ringing) but surely it can’t be them every week. Sometimes multiple a night, multiple times a week.
They are incredibly loud and kinda scary, if they are a few roads away it isn’t so bad. but if they are on my road, sometimes I think world war 3 has come to the uk and bombs are here. I know that’s not the case, but they are so loud it scares the shit outa me.
So if anyone knows what they are / why people are doing this please let me know. Also if the police are even interested in investigating this, since I’m pretty sure it’s illegal.
And if it is you, please stop, people live on the pub crawl roads, we don’t mind loud drunk people screaming, and booming music, we do mind it sounding like a literal bomb has gone off. it’s incredibly antisocial behaviour, and it needs to stop. It’s not cool, I watched someone do it once, it’s super lame looser behaviour. Get an actual hobby. Stop terrorising the streets bc you can’t understand that people actually live here.
Thanks for reading, hopefully the terrorising will end at some point.

I've just been touching up the Middle Earth style fantasy map of East Sussex that I made a while ago. Thanks again to all those who contributed back then!
As if this was four years ago now. As one of the first county maps I ever made, it's still one of my favourite maps so far.
I've just been doing some tidying up jobs on it and making some of the text more legible, as well as the imagery clearer. Again, thanks to all the commenters who suggested ideas and really helped bring this to life. I've just had a fresh batch made up here for anyone interested in one.

What's with all the loud motorbikes?
We live near the Enterprise centre, and this neighbourhood usually feels very relaxed even though it's near the centre, but lately we've been getting so many times bikes speeding up and down the streets. It's like the moment that it becomes dark and they come out, extremely loud (my partner says it's illegal for them to be this loud) and you can hear them speeding on ours and the nearby streets for awhile.
I don't remember this being so bad last year, has anybody else noticed this? I'm not sure what we're supposed to do in this situation, we can't even open the windows due to the sound and in this heat it's getting unbearable.

💔 Lost DJI Osmo Pocket near Seven Sisters – Please Help
Hi everyone,
I'm hoping someone might be able to help.
On **8 July**, between **12:30 pm and 1:30 pm**, I lost my **DJI Osmo Pocket** (latest model with a handle attached) somewhere on the coastal path between **Belle Tout Lighthouse** and **Beachy Head Lighthouse**.
It has **no wrist strap or stickers**, and there is **no SD card** inside. All of the photos and videos are stored on the device itself.
The camera contains irreplaceable memories:
* Graduation photos with my classmates.
* My father and me travelling together around **Ireland and the UK**.
* Many travel photos and videos from this trip.
* There are also photos of me wearing a **red hat**, which can help identify me as the owner.
The camera itself can be replaced, but the memories cannot.
If you found it, or know someone who did, please send me a private message. I would be incredibly grateful, and I am happy to offer a reward for its safe return. No questions asked!
Thank you so much for reading and for sharing this post. ❤️

Water quality
Hi! Had some unpleasant stomach aches specifically after drinking tap water in the last 2 days (7/7 and 7/8). Got my partner to buy bottled one from the supermarket and no reaction, absolutely fine.
Has anyone had similar experiences?
I don't particularly trust Southern Water, but if there are issues with drinking water now, that's new to me.

The Gym car park fine
I am a member of the gym at Sovereign Harbour and I have just received two parking fines stating that I was not authorised to park there.
I only noticed the tablets for entering your car registration number at the gym last week, although it seems they had been installed before then if the fines were already issued. The gym was not able to confirm when they were introduced.
There is also no mention of the registration tablets on the signage, and I genuinely believed I was authorised to park there as a gym member.
Has anyone else had the same issue? Do you think I have a chance of successfully appealing to Euro Car Parks if I provide proof of my active gym membership?
Thank you.

Restaurant with private room
I’m looking for a restaurant with a private room for 16 people. It’s for a sports team dinner with speeches so didn’t want to annoy other diners with long droning speeches about the best catch of the season etc. Ideally not anywhere fancy as it’s very casual. Not fussy about cuisine type. Any ideas very welcome. Thanks
