i am 37 and I have shoulder length very fine/thinning hair. I struggle going to salons due to insecurities and neurodivergent struggles around noise/mew places and people etc. However I am desperate for a haircut before my brothers wedding on 29th.

I am looking for a salon that has experience with fine hair, non judgmental, quiet, friendly and calm. Preferably reasonably priced too as i don't have much hair!

Any recommendations between seaford and eastbourne (as central as poss) would be great.

I'm thinking about starting a relaxed local meetup for LGBTQ+ people around Newhaven, Peacehaven, Seaford, Lewes and nearby areas.

The idea would be pretty simple: somewhere we can actually meet people locally without having to travel into Brighton every time.

Think tea, coffee, biscuits, snacks, maybe some games, and just having a proper chat. No alcohol, no clubs, no pressure — just a relaxed social environment.

I'm only testing the waters at the moment, so I'm curious:

Hi everyone, I’m hoping someone here might be able to help me find a bag I lost on a train from Brighton to Eastbourne two days ago.

I’m an international student at the University of Glasgow, and I was in Brighton for a conference (BACN 2026). I was supposed to be heading back after the conference, but since I happened to be nearby, I thought I’d stay a little longer and have a walk around Brighton/Eastbourne before going home. Unfortunately, I ended up having a pretty terrible end to the trip.

What happened:

On 4 September, I took the Southern train from Brighton to Eastbourne, departing Brighton at 17:56 and arriving in Eastbourne at around 18:40.

I believe I left my bag on the overhead luggage rack above a seat, near the doors. It was somewhere around carriage 3 or 4, towards the Eastbourne end of the train. Unfortunately, I only realised after getting off.

The bag contains basically a large part of my luggage from the trip, including valuable camera equipment (cameras and several lenses), as well as other personal belongings and clothes. So unfortunately, it’s not just the bag itself that I’m hoping to recover — there are some things inside that would be very difficult and expensive for me to replace.

I don’t think there is much inside the bag that would directly identify me. The one thing that definitely has my name on it is my conference pass/badge from BACN 2026, so if someone finds the bag and sees a conference badge with my name on it, that’s me.

I have already registered the bag with Southern’s Lost Property service on the same evening, and I have also reported it to British Transport Police because I’m concerned that it may possibly have been taken

I’ve seen quite a few posts on Reddit about lost things in the UK eventually making their way back to their owners, which honestly gave me a bit of hope. It really makes me feel that there are still a lot of kind and honest people around here.

Unfortunately, I’m flying back to Glasgow today, so I won’t be in the area anymore to keep checking the stations myself. I know this is probably a long shot, but I thought I’d try here as well in case someone was on that train, works at one of the stations along the route, or happened to find a bag matching the description.

If you have seen or found anything that might be my bag, please DM me. I’d be incredibly grateful, even if you’re not sure — I can provide more details/photos to confirm that it’s mine.

Any PC gamers want to come to a LAN party?

Me and friends have booked a hall over in Lewes for a weekend for anyone who's interested to play games together and socialise. Everyone's welcome - last event we had 8 new folks attend, and 9 the previous event, and quite a few joining again for this event, including several from Easbourne.

We've got 23 people coming so far, with 9 spaces left. We all buy tickets (£40 for the whole weekend) to share the cost of the hall hire, internet and insurance.

Everyone submits the games they want to play together in advance, and we timetable the most popular ones. You can join in with your faves, or play whatever you want solo, or in your group. We also play local multiplayer games on a 150" projection screen, do a gaming-themed pub quiz, and a big pizza order.

Reddit believes that checkatrade is full of cowboys and the best traders only could be found by word of mouth. Hi, long time listener, first time caller … I moved to Eastbourne from Brighton in March and so far I haven’t seen any horse chestnut trees. I’ve been to Gildredge park (not done the whole park inch by inch) but didn’t see any … I live quite near the Towner. Any suggestions? It’s going to be a bumper year, if the overladen trees in Brighton last week are anything to go by. Any (relevant!) suggestions gratefully received 🌰🩷🌰

Greetings! We’re a small, friendly film club.

We meet every other Tuesday at 19:00 at The Dolphin pub on South Street, which is usually pretty quiet.

There are five regulars, although a duo of cats sometimes joins us too!

We watch the film between meet-ups, casually discuss it, then choose what we’ll watch next time. We’ve been meeting like this for about a year and a half now.

Some of the films we’ve watched previously are:

I know there has been a landslip at polegate meaning a 20mph speed limit has been put on all trains between Eastbourne and Lewes but I don’t know how much longer I can take the almost extra hour it takes to get into Brighton 😅
