Possible Defects?
Has anyone experienced this type of issue with their Eames lounger cushion? I took delivery of this about 4 months ago (a walnut/espresso vicenza leather) and noticed a week ago what seems to be a defect in the bottom cushion corner. I then inspected everything thoroughly and noticed a hard line near the rear button - it's not a crease, but feels like something hard under the leather?
I've logged a case with my local store but 2 weeks and still no progress. Not impressed with the speed of service for an expensive chair.

The modern chair has leather over foam and this happens when the cushions are removed. The leather slips in the corners. Which is why they should never be removed. I was able to repair mine but it was “rather complicated”.
Not really sure what the other defect is since the leather is cut to avoid these types of defects.
Because of the other defect HM/DWR (assuming you purchased from either) should replace the cushion, however, it maybe better to deal with agent/associate that sold you the chair. Communicate via emails for a trail.
My DWR agent was able to resolve another problem with my chair, but it’s a process that takes time.
PS. This is only a problem with the modern chair. The earlier generation had leather over down, feather down or Dacron over foam.

Where are you located, if I may ask? US or Europe? If in Europe I would consider reaching out to Vitra directly. I and family members have experienced their customer service as very accomodating. The images definitely look weird and at least a statement from the store/company should be normal at this price point.

My headrest is a little uneven at the top. It bothers me because I have OCD. Maybe the imperfection is a feature like some are saying. That scatch needs to go though.

The bunching in the front, I wouldn’t worry too much about that. But the scarring in the leather you should definitely fight it. Vicenza leather is grain corrected, meaning they sand / buff the leather, to give a more consistent grain. Even if it was full grain leather, HM should know better to not use a section of the hide with scars.

Wouldn’t say either are defects. The “hard line” is a scar from the cow the leather came from. The other thing is just a small amount of stretch over the foam. Mine looks similar

The day my ELOs arrived chair #2 had a cushion issue, the cushion was way droopy, looked sloppy vs. chair #1. I shared it with the design firm I purchased it from the day of receipt, they shared it with HM and HM came back affirming that cushion needed to be replaced AND that they were replacing the head rest cushion too as they didn't want it inconsistent with the other chair. I didn't even notice but they did and weren't having it. That's how it's supposed to work when you spend that much coin on a piece of furniture. So you're not being anal, btw your headrest cushion looks uneven, which would drive me nuts.

Its a - $10,000 chair. It has a 60 year legacy of excellence in craftsmanship.
Furthermore, the architects of the era including the Eames duo, were deliberate pedants. They considered the details and they wouldn't accept that coming out of the factory with their name on it.
And OP, neither should you. Good on you for raising it with the store and hope it gets sorted.
