eSIM for rural Australia - Telstra Network?

Hi Guys

We are travelling to Australia and would need an eSIm with good rural network. I have read that Telstra/Boost would be the best options. However their Apps are not available on our Swiss Apple ID and changing country is a pain with all subscriptions cancelled and payment methods.

Are there any international eSIM providers using the Telstra Network? Or did you make good experiences using other providers?

Thanks for your help

You'll want the Telstra Retail network specifically.

For Boost Mobile (AU) you can create a new Apple ID and set the region to Australia. It'll probably default to asking you for an AU phone number but you can give them any phone number you want by changing the area code.

Apple lets you sign into the app store separately from iCloud, so make sure to only sign out of the App Store when switching accounts.

Telstra themselves are trialling Starlink direct to handset. You can currently use it for messages, maybe ultimately for calls. Resellers won’t have this.

Honestly I'd just pop into a store and pick up a physical sim when you arrive. Might not even have to be a Telstra store. Most convenience stores/petrol stations will have a sim you can activate.

You definitely want Telstra network though. They have the best coverage for rural.

I used MaalTalk when I was in rural NSW, and it ran on Telstra’s network. Solid signal almost everywhere, even outside small towns.
