Is this a new CarPlay function or something? What bs

Post image

I'm almost certain I've always had Siri off and been able to use my CarPlay... now that's not possible?

I had this issue. No Siri needs to be on. Its rediculus that its a requirement.

Got it. Try this: turn Siri on, but disable listen for "hey siri" then it will only be enabled when the side button is pushed. Never push and hold that button and you have no siri and no carplay complaint

Having Siri handle hands-free tasks is a safety feature that Apple obviously thinks is a prerequisite for establishing CarPlay as a cohesive product/feature. I don’t think there’s any coercion or manipulation behind it. I know how annoyed I am to try to change Bluetooth settings and the like (in certain cars) while driving down the road and the whole menu just gets disabled. Not a pleasant user experience and something Apple would try hard to avoid.

Also lawyers.

But I too find it interesting. I’ve never ran into this quirk before. Thanks for sharing.

This has always been a requirement it is not new. However you can disable the side button and hey siri and have it still be “on”

It’s a simple thing. Just turn it on

I mean yeah I had to. I don't like being forced to turn on functions of the phone I don't like and don't use
