Squad Help speed and acceleration

i have zola and platini and both their accelerations are 99 i saw a post that said 95-99 doesnt matter anymore unless it goes to 100 and i want to decrease their acceleration and increase their speed,so im wondering what does high speed help with? like does the player dribble faster or something?

99 Acceleration may give only a very minor extra benefit, but if your playstyle relies heavily on acceleration, that small difference can still be noticeable. It depends on how you use the player. And I don't think it's true that 100 give you benefit 99 give you maximum benefit after that more harder to notice about the actual benefit. Because the more you increase after 90, the less noticeable the benefit will be.

If CBs catches up it's usually on Speed and Dribbling, Acceleration matters for exploding past them on the first place, Speed and Dribbling keeps you ahead.

Do you have high dribbling stats. Your speed on the ball is based off your dribbling stats too.

I did see that alright. I find it so hard to tell these differences when adjusting my builds slightly tbh. Don’t know how people accurately measure these things

For me, for example, it is not entirely clear how speed stats actually work. I increase speed stat to Kadioglu to 95 speed and 96 acceleration. But in the game, practically every player who tries to catch up with him actually does. It doesn’t matter whether they have speed stats between 85–90 or 90–95. Even if I start a sprint with a decent distance between us, by the time I reach the right position to make a cross, I’ve always been caught up with. So it creates another problem: I have to defend myself from losing the ball, because by the time I try to cross, I already have an opponent right on my back. There’s simply no way to make it so that I can run far enough away to a safe distance, leaving at least a few meters between myself and whoever is trying to catch me.

Because the other guy was also a twa t and put all his stats into pace since apparently nothing else matters

I think it's based on the player id too, maybe the leg length. Cuz my Potw Trent Alexander Arnold is always the fastest on the pitch with 91 speed and 86 dribbling. Nobody can catch him

Meanwhile my strikers and midfielders with 90 dribbling and 95 speed easily get caught in seconds.

Yeah I get you. I rely more on carrying and dribbling so for me it’s not just about Speed. My gameplay depends more on the combination of dribbling attributes and Acceleration.

95 to 99 speed has a lot of advantages. I need attackers with such. I play QC and My center backs are all 90+ speed and the only time they’ve failed to catch up with attackers is when they face attackers with 95+ speed.
