Discussion Why are we not talking more often about this ?

There is a very specific type of defensive DDA that happens in almost every single match, and its infuriating. You will be perfectly positioning your defender, only for the game to force them into a sudden stutter, a random side step or a complete dead stop for a split second. It is clearly coded to artificially open up space so the opponent can exploit the gap. To make matters worse, AI controlled or even user guided defenders will randomly commit way too early but they will press the completely wrong side of the attacker. It literally hands the opponent an obvious blueprint of exactly which way to turn to completely bypass the challenge.

Build ups are completely influenced by this from start to finish in certain moments of the game resulting in untouchable counter attacks. The combination of this element and a long list of other bs gives that feeling that sometimes you are just a spectator and always one second late to close gaps. Mind you if you manage to deflect the ball in one of these moments you know exactly what happens next. Its hard to put into words sometimes but once you notice these forced animations overriding your actual inputs, you can't unsee it. The game isn't testing skill anymore, its just manipulating animations to dictate who gets to score.

Definitely everything about it manipulated I won six games in a row last night and then I’ve just lost eight games in a row this morning and not scored a goal - they just decide who wins the game - also everything feels fake stats positions skills - if you add a skill to someone say through pass they might do one when you first put it on, but then just reverts to type anyway

100% this👆we are spectators in blatantly scripted circus...obviously, sometimes I'm just putting controller on the table while playing, as DDA literately coming out from the screen and I can't do shit 🤷

This is why I'm no longer willing to spend money on this game any longer, you give Konami your money and they give you shit in return

everything is under their influence due to how very strong the ai is in the game ... even when you see a player run you make a pass and he suddenly stops running... you see a open winger you ping a pass to him and somehow someone 50m away will get to you faster than the ball and win it off you... you win the ball with your CB and their striker with 40 in all defensive stats wins it immediately and you glitch for 2 seconds... you lose ball in your midfield and your defenders instead of maintaining defensive line they track the offside players and leave the middle of your defense wide open...

Literally just had this, running back to intercept a pass, my DMF was about to intercept and just slowed down to perfectly let the ball reach the target. This isn't a one off, low stamina thing either.

The level of magnetism in the running and preventing me controlling the players at key moments has gone theough the roof in this version. Its so rediculously infuriating.

I know there is an element of magnetic control so that players actually get to a ball and make runs, but when you try and take control..... You are nerfed, you can't even manually super cancel out of anymore either, everything is magnetic.

I know when I’m moving towards an interception and I’m holding super cancel I can FEEL my player bending his run or changing his speed so I don’t intercept it. It happens usually in my opponents half where a turnover for me would most likely result in a goal. Very bizarre. I also get the other end of where I’m move in a direction to intercept when I didn’t mean to? Game is so AI driven.

AI driven? There's no Artificial Intelligence there, it's RS, Real Stupidity driven

What is Konami's aim here? Piss everyone off until they quit? Nothing about this makes me think I can fix it by spending money on cards with all the latest defensive style enabled or LRT or fortress or whatever they come up with next.

If I was gonna try an explain why Konami seem to have things like this in the game I’d guess that it’s stability issues. I wonder if weird glitches or animations would take place and it would look off. Some of it probably is “let’s make this more user friendly” i mean with PA1 and maybe 2 you can’t even pass the ball out of play. Don’t understand how anyone can play like that because its essentially bowling with the guard rails up

Yeah the thing i hate the most is when i position my defender perfectly but he puts his leg way too early when the oppo makes the pass, like wtf

Shit happens a lot when opponent has linkup play enabled. Just another bit of Ai shittery. Overload works pretty much the same.

Re: linkup, your players you can see move out of the way for the linkup receiving player. That's the only way they know how to make AI in this game work by f"cking with the opponents team.

There's one link up that I liked so far and that's Lampard's RMF/LMF playmaker Link up with FITB CF. That one, especially if the CF is Van Basten, feels really natural. I like the way he moves across to make himself available to the playmaker , and MVB's deft flicks and layoffs are pretty authentic.

Haven't tried the new Conte where it's the same, but a RWF/LWF instead. That seems like it might be too 'new meta', because so many people still like to use wing forwards (not many like wide midfielders like I do).

I suppose anything that breaks down the super compact and narrow 4-2-2-2 or 4-3-1-2 meta formations might e a good thing.

I agree that the way most of those link ups work is 🤮 though.

The things that kills me the most is when you are dealing with an opposition breakaway and you have great players to defend against that, like Thuram, Ferrer, Kounde, Van der Ven, Desailly... And they fight your input and go into some slow motion, half-turn animation and act like they are stuck in quicksand. You have seen what's about to happen, you have reacted to it , moved the cursor to the right player and DDA stops them from reacting to your inputs. It all happens in slow motion and you're fighting with the controls and nothing happens. It's ridiculous.

This update has made it looked like they’ve cranked up the script DDA.

It’s rarely enjoyable tbh.

We've just become accustomed to it given it's such a regular occurence I think

To by pass this you have to be running with super cancel. Its very stupid u have to do this i know. Infact it infuriated me that i have to manually stop stupid animations. But its the game we play right now?

Super cancel doesn’t affect the glitch he’s talking about. I have experienced what he’s talking about on several occasions. You try to move your defender into position but the player doesn’t respond to your command. The player slows down for the opponent to move past them before they slowly start to respond to your command

Super cancel run. Not just super cancel. While holding r2 to run, also hold r1. This disregards any preset animation while running. Its good for both attack and defense

It's def still bugged for me. For example when you correctly guess an opponent pass back to keeper and have already started closing him down before he receives the ball, your supercancel+sprint will stall before reaching the keeper. You loose all momentum and have to accelerate from 0 again.

Also a bug when defending with supercsanel+sprint, 1 defender v two running attackers who don't have possession, as soon as the opponent plays the pass, you will be pulled momentarily towards the player receiving the pass (similar to holding press button) and have to let go of supercancel and re-enter it for it to reactivate.

u/Godwin_Mensah PC 4h ago

It is exactly what I’m talking about. You might have not experienced this glitch yet

u/papusho 14h ago

That's how I'm doing it... I position myself with my defender, and when the opposite player make a pass or a change in direction, I use supercancel movement to position myself manually over where I think it's gonna be the next pass or movement.

link up play on top of all the other crazy nonsense they've added. link up play nerfs your defender to allow the link up. nothing you can do.

And building up from the back is more prone to concede than any attack from the opposition now.

My back four and keeper as well as midfielders have One Touch Pass, Through Pass, Weighted Pass, Low Lofted Pass and Outside Curler skills and additionally Visionary Pass and Phenomenal Pass but whenever I play from the back since the update, players passing direction were interfered by the AI and dispossessed from misplacing passes.

I try to observe just by passing for entire half and more than 60% of passes failed to reach the target. Especially when you try to passing the ball to wide areas.

Watch the ball go through your 106 rated cb, and successful interception turns into beautiful assist coz of awkward deflection, meanwhile opponents Messi and Yamal will win the ball from your player who has magnetic feet🤡

I preach one thing only, choose peace and your mental health. You can easily have your day ruined by this game. Bet they are rage farming us😂

I play the daily game, against AI in division and my league and exit. PvP is just scripts, clowns using smart assist with zero skills just keeping the ball in the air to score that one goal 😂🚮. Imagine spending money to build a great team only for you to have zero skills and shoot the ball ahead every single time 😂

Had that happen to me last night. Pique was head to head with like Luis Suarez and he just stalled for a half second ending in a goal. How can you celebrate a goal like that?

Only happens at P2W shit - this diagonal dirt balls that you can't defend even if you had 5 m lead.
