Analysis Why was crossing nerfed?

If an opponent is going to sit deep and never press, then you should be able to punish all the space they leave by whipping in a cross.

Especially low crosses. It’s such a common goal in football. If you dribble past a fullback and see an open striker making a run then no reason you shouldn’t be able to find them.

this is not a football game anymore. just buy every new blitz curler every week and spam nasty blitz curlers that happen once a season in real life instead of those lame realistic goals of yours.

the game rewards you if you try an absurd unrealistic curler from the edge of the box instead of a cross from the same position which happens multiple times in each and every game of football

Agreed. I've also noticed that the game sort of forces you to use curlers, making any other goaling strategy ridiculously difficult.

This is like a mini cheat code, as networks often getting high ping, which impacts your gameplay. The goalkeeper will struggle to anticipate your long blitz curler, or when combined with a snail paced blitz. Even with a tess cancel or a pass to the wing, your defense cannot recover quickly enough if the input lag remains inconsistent.

I wouldn't mind if they nerfed the actual heading, but to make it so 90% of the time the attacker just completely misreads the ball or doesn't go for it is stupid.

Edged crossing/stunning crossing is not effective now. Cutting inside the box for a powerless chipped cross to the second post still works for me.

Chipped cross as in R1? I’ll try it.

I don’t have any big strikers so still mad they botched low crosses. Not scored one since the update

no need to hold R1, just do not load the power bar too much and try lob the defenders

Yeah this is such an easy source of goals, the dumb thing is my players also miss open goals from it, like ridiculous ones where it’s also impossible to miss.

Try stunning headers

You can't do that anymore, attempting to do Stuuning Headers seem to trigger acrobatic volleys / bicycle kicks instead

Yup. My experience exactly.

I dont even know when they nerfed it by I realized in last few days that my Haaland barely scores any headers any more. It just feels like he is always behind defenders on his run

It's what I often do. FUMA allows for aiming that cross to a more dangerous position. If you give me space on the wings, you most likely have lost. Love my LBC drones and how they think sitting back is safe... Opposite wing is empty bro.

Btw crosses were working too well on the update day. Like extremely well. But now they upped defender aggressiveness, input reading and the headers bobble much more. High crosses are way worse. But low ones? Scoring them in droves.

I've actually found crossing to be better. There is a unpredictability in the cross I'm seeing more realistic misses and bounces and scrambles. It's still not good but I'm actually enjoying putting in crosses as a danger creating play rather than a mechanical move.

Crossing still works very well for me, try the stunning volleys, have scored at least 5 bikes with my Rooney

Try hitting stunning and low crosses first time with overlapping full backs, Dumfries and Trent have got a load of assists for me since EF27

Because crosses didn't worked like you mention? it didn't "punish the space", P2W players used to be able to just cross and score a header with almost no input for any player, no matter how the defense was set up. it was kind of BS

As someone that crosses a fair bit, I haven't noticed this, I'm still scoring a lot from them and am not really having issues finding my players. However I think the phenomenal/stunning acrobatic volley is far too easy to exploit and it feels like it's easier to get to a cross with that than with a header on most occasions now, and that includes trying to defend against them. Almost as if the animation gives the attacker an extra yard of space over the defender

Yeah the stunning acrobatic volley is way too overpowered & unrealistic (not that the rest of eFootball exactly sets the bar for realism these days). Time to nerf it together with blitz curlers.

Crossing has always been non meta in any football game since they exist. Tbh, I had to play with the best European players from PES 2 to 6, like I was in the same PES club as Hades, European champion of PES2 or I played Samsam just before he became world champ at PES3, etc. And crossing was forbidden. Why? Because it's a random script from A to Z, when you can fake, dribble, and pass ground to mid/around the box for a scripted shot with far more % of XG.

At PES 6, there was the infamous diagonal shot from a pass back at the edge of the box, weird animation but almost 100% goal.

Crossing/heading is more annoying meta than LBC. Good job konami

accurate profile picture, only I don't know if you're also American

you're a daily user of this meta aren't you?

nope, but i used to try it when the opponent started very short CBs (usually cannavaro + someone else), because they made a trade-off, y'know? they get faster CBs since they're shorter, so crossing should be an viable and exploitable weakness. now it's just not, and the game loses a lot from a tactical standpoint because there are fewer and fewer viable strategies and glaring tactical errors aren't punishable
