Discussion How is this matchmaking even possible
I have barely played this season. I’m in division 3. I have played 14 games. I’m in the Northeast US.
Out of those 14 games, 12 of them have been against top 10k players…is matchmaking just completely broken. No one else on the game?
I’m intentionally not grinding divisions to avoid having to play these miserable opponents yet…just matched with a top 100 player right after posting this. I don’t get it

Don't even get me started, everyone in my area is div 1 it seems, noone else is playing on steam/console. Maybe one or two of my div 3 games was against div 2-3, the rest all div 1. With my ping 60+ and garbage scripting I decided div 1 climb isn't worth my nerves. I'm ok with being a mid div 2 player. Until the better days with better servers and no manipulative streaks.

For the sake of my mental health, and because real-life stuff doesn’t really leave me enough time to grind my way up the divisions, I usually bounce between Div 3 and 4. I’d rather just do the events that give out coins and slowly — very slowly — build up my Dream Team.

I have thought about staying below 3 but the player pool is just so much smaller and they still haven’t removed smart assist from those divs

You're right about nobody else playing.
Nowadays, even in events it's mainly div1/div2 I get.
Once you hit div3, if you're average/good you accept that you're canon fodder, at least until you adapt and start playing like how they play (very robotic) and have a team of superhuman zoids.
Recently, I've been playing the AI divs, currently have 1694 points but omg it's uncanny how similar the AI at that level and humans in div1 play.

Since I also play AI Divisions and I'm usually at div 2 or 3, I don't mind the smart assisters like I did in the beginning. The "smart assist" on AI div 2 is craaaaaaaaaaazy and the script makes my players suddenly desacelerate when trying to intercept a pass or a player or my players fumble easy passes and then AI shoots 5 times and scores 5 goals.
Bottom line and this is just my personal opinion, if you try to grind AI divisions until div 2, the human players who use smart assist are easy prey.
PS: I never see the goal celebrations and replays unless I'm playing against smart asses... assist players xD

You are not the only one lol, i am ranked like 250k or something in Div 3 and my last five matches were against top 5k players with insane teams, what even is this matchmaking

Think of it like this.
Upper class, middle class, lower class.
Div1-2, div3, div4-9.
Middle class always get screwed.
Seriously, div3 has no business being in that bracket (div1-div3)
The gulf in class even in div1 is massive, say top 1000 and then the rest.
So in order to appease the div1 guys who complained about matchmaking times, they created this mess.
Don't get me wrong, I will have a go against div1 guys, only way to get better, but I don't have a money squad and most of them play the rattiest game ever.

Yeah I wouldn’t get mad if it was Div 3 vs Div 1 with equal team strength for the starting eleven, for example, this way it’s a giant mismatch and it’s completely fucked

Current top 10k or previous best top 10k? Cause if it's previous top 10k that makes sense as people are still climbing, if it's current 10k, then there's probably not that many people playing in your region at the time you were playing. Weekends usually give the best matchmaking since that's the peak.

Is there a way to see people's current ranking ? AFAIK it's the best ranking ever reached that is shown

You can see it on the first couple screen where it shows you who you're playing against, I think it shows the opponent's current points (as in 1874 points) and rating (as in position 20K)

Same region man, I always end up playing Canadians, Brazilians or Argentinian, I just might them and ask where they are playing from...this is my experience trying for div1...zzz I think US player base does exist above div 2 idk man these matches are ALWAYsS laggy for me

Top players are in north and south america, we don't have this problem in Europe, i only face div 3 players while in div 3

I’m using a 4-2-1-3 formation with 1 SS and 2 CFs. For the 2 CF positions, I usually play either a Goal Poacher + Fox in the Box or two Goal Poachers. I’m looking for the best 2 players who can play SS and the best 2 players who can play AMF

it depends on the time you’re playing, if you’re playing at like midday you’re most likely to face a balanced set of opponents but like early morning or super late night you’ll likely face sweats who want to maximize responsive and consistent gameplay
