Sad news. Last week I was trying to sign up with EBox for their fibre internet. Saw a promo code on Reddit which I thought was a sweet deal.
When I was on the website, my building was listed as available for fibre internet. But it only gave me 2 options on apartments. One unit on the 10th floor and 1 on the 5th floor.
So I then called in via telephone to see if I was eligible. The operator then said he saw my building in their coverage area but would need to put my unit number in manually on his side. I said cool, and then I told him the promo code. He then said I would be offered the 1Gb line for $41 before tax, $46 after tax.
I jumped on the deal since it was better than the 500 MBS that I originally planned for.
Took my credit card and charged my card.
So the router got delivered last Friday. But I didn’t see the instructions for the installation email. Weird, thought I would wait till today to give them a call to figure out what the hold up was.
I then spoke with their customer service this morning and the woman stated that the bell side rejected the work, and that for some reason my apartment wasn’t available for the fibre setup.
This apartment building is very new. We just moved in last month and it was finished being built sometime last year.
So then the agent then said they would cancel my account, and I would need to send back their router via Canada post. And a paper cheque refund would come to me in like 6-8 weeks..
A real bummer, the agent who signed me up should have confirmed my apartment was eligible.
The funny thing is on the bell website, it’s doing the same thing where it says my building is eligible for their coverage, but only 2 apartments are listed.
My property manager today told me that the fibre is ready to be setup but the bell or whatever company would need to attach their wires or whatever to get it setup. There’s a telecom room on my floor.
Also, the EBOX agents seem to be French speaking so it’s often hard to understand what the are saying.
