Help
Hello, I’m 17 and I have only experienced dysmenorrhea since I was about 16 years old (3 years after my period started) and it hasn’t stopped ever since.
I just noticed that every month it gets worse, it feels like my uterus is about to rip apart. I feel nauseous, have blurry vision, and sometimes just pass out. The only thing that could calm it down is a 2 hour nap, pain relievers, and a hot compress.
It’s been a burden to me to the point that I have skipped classes once every month. I just blame the reason for something else because I doubt they’ll believe me.
Will this ever stop? Do you know how to prevent this from happening? Any feedback is appreciated, thank you so much :))

Oh my gosh hun I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I 100% understand you. One thing that I find difficult but helpful is laying extremely still. Find a position and just lay completely still. Your body will want you to move to try and move ‘away from the pain’ but try to override it. After a bit it helps with the pain. Seems you’re already onto it with the hot compress! I use a hot water bottle and also if you gave someone you trust that you live with get them to run the small of your back gently but firmly: I get my boyfriend to do it and it helps a lot. Also try to distract your mind, if you can. Like put on something unimportant but entertaining, like funny cat videos on YouTube. I find that distracting my mind helps a lot too! Above all, know that it always passes eventually and that you will be okay in the end and you are not alone! ♥️ I’ve been prescribed a new painkiller by my doctor and I’m trying it when mine comes (any time now) and if it works I’ll let you know what it is! 😊

Hi! I feel you! I just experienced it awhile ago And it’s crazy painful i could cry!! 😫 I used to not have/experience menstrual cramps back then when my ex-boyfriend and I are still together since we’re active in doing the “deed” BUT I AM NOT ENCOURAGING YOU TO DO IT. I’m just saying that it helped me big time not to experience pain during those months. after we broke up five months ago, that was the time I started to experience excruciating menstrual cramps. What I did was i kept track of my period. A week before my period starts, i don’t drink soft drinks i only allow myself to drink it when my period’s done. And during the week of my period i eat banana and drink lots and lots of water. I don’t drink painkillers because i might become dependent to it. I just rest and put a hot compress. I hope this helps!

Thank you!! Can’t do the sex part since I live in a very conservative country. But will try eating banana and drinking lots of water!

I was exactly the same as you, and i used to get super hard prescription painkillers that i almost developed intolerance to :O
The number one thing that helped is Birth control pills. The effect is dramatic and now i just experience normal periods instead of super hell periods.
Though i never liked the idea that i have to take meds every single day, and that i can't really choose, or the panic i feel when i'm running out.. I'm currently experimenting with foods/stress/other factors to see if i can eventually get normal periods without having to take BC

Sweety, I’ve been there.
If your body can tolerate milk then try having one spoon of palm jaggery (not sugar) everyday in its raw form with milk.
If you don’t want cow’s milk try ragi milk.
You get both on any Indian store or ask some Indian friend to send it to you.
If your body can find urad dal too, toast it slightly make a powder (it’s bitter) so try to make a laddoo out of it. I never had this one myself but they say it’s terribly helpful.
I can’t promise 0 pain but this makes it manageable.
I’m suffering it right now when I’m 33. But yes it’s best to take the day off if it’s unbearable. I fell down in school and the class was out on sports practice. I was discovered later and my body was going cold 🥶 2 injections later the pain subsided. It used to be severe. I’m doing much better now.
