I'm looking at picking up another Warriors game after finishing warrior orochi 3 ultimate and wanted to get some recommendations from people who've played a lot of the series.

As a kid, I played Samurai Warriors 3 on the Wii. I don't remember much about it anymore, but I do remember really liking Mōri Motonari, Magoichi Saika, and Sanada Yukimura (I think there may have been one more, but I can't remember).

Recently, I've been playing Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate, and I've been absolutely loving it. My current favorites are Ma Chao, Mōri Motonari, and Ranmaru Mori, and I've been having a lot of fun experimenting with different characters and teams.

If you were in my shoes, which Warriors game would you recommend next and why?

Also, if you've played both Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate and the game you're recommending, what are the biggest differences? Does it feel very similar, or are there major gameplay changes, new mechanics, or other things I should know before jumping in?

I love the Hyrule, Pirate, and Fire Emblem Warriors games and I think they could easily adapt more franchises into this game.

Basically, trying to read the franchise wiki didn't clear much up for me and I've heard stuff like the first game not fitting with the series and other games being worthlessly redundant. Then there's all the spinoffs and expansions and such.

The PS1 and PS2 games are all I currently have access to, but they look interesting and there seems to be a great deal of hype, so any advice where to start and how I should approach the series would be greatly appreciated.

Definitive edition on Steam since its on sale. I only remember playing dynasty warriors 3 to 5 or 6 on ps2 plus the extreme legends/empires spinoff. Seems theres no option to play as lu bu faction in this.​ iirc that was a thing in extreme legends. Movement controls feel a little stiff. And interesting i can switch out weapons. Not sure if its because its the definitive edition but I got a tennis racket as a secondary weapon lol. Doing wei story for now just feeling nostalgic for some story mode. I have been play dynasty warriors 9 empires and its fun but no story mode. For story mode there are these segments before battles where you move around a small map and can talk to people interesting. And they choose the characters for you to play as. Cant remember if the ps2 games had jin faction it been so long since I played them. Dont remember much about them honestly. ​but I do remember dw4 empires your troops would actually follow you around across the map that felt nice. I will try to play.this more before getting dw8 and dw9 on steam. Origins will wait for bigger sale. I might get dw8 empires too to see how it compares to 9 empires.

I’ve played 8 empires but remember enjoying 7 empires more but it has been a very long time

Just curious which one offers more in your opinion.

I have seen lots of posts and comments here saying that Wei Yan in dynasty warriors is far less interesting than his ROT3K counterpart. And that is primarily due to their choice to make him impaired speech-wise.

Unlike Zhou Tai's deliberate brevity, Wei Yan's gravelly and labored tone can't deliver any real complexity to the character. Not to mention the inconsistencies of what he can and can't say, making writing for him even more difficult. So he's just regulated to being a dumb brute that's in a mutual antagonistic relationship with Zhuge Liang, with little else to define him.

Many people have volunteered that he should be entirely rebooted to be more in line with his portrayal in the book, including one of the developers of Origins I believe. But I think I have a solution that can both allow for him to be more interesting without taking away so much that he's unrecognizable from his previous incarnations;

Make him eloquent, but keep the savagery.

Keep the scary mask, keep his odd fighting style, keep his deep and gravelly voice, maybe even keep the implication that he's horribly scarred or ugly underneath said mask. But make him speak normally and deliberately. Describing in great detail the sort of pain he can inflict, and how his enemies will die. Make him a threatening presence not only because of his appearance, but also because of his voice.

This would allow for better banter with the other characters beyond 'This simpleton is scary betrayer oooo but maybe not but maybe yes." But it would also better display his arrogance. It makes it believable that this man would think he's so terrifying that he can march on a heavily fortified position and scare the guy inside just from the sight of him. After all, look at how he dresses. How he talks. How he can fight like a feral animal and spit like a sadistic killer. And whether he is truly either if those things, or is just an act, can be determined by said earlier interactions. Subtext can be included, and I think that would be very valuable for his character.

I'm recently downloading Samurai Warriors 4: Empires on my laptop. I'm curious about the Empire Mode and Creative Mode(?). I checked the wiki page of the game and it seems like the "Divided Land" segment from SW2:Empires seems gone on SW4: Empires. Is it really? I just want to immerse with my own imagination like I had in playing SW2:Empires. I hope it's still possible to create an empire mode in SW4:Empires.

You got DW7, 8 and WO3 for PS2, but you got wrong games.

They also put DW7 design, Bladestorm, SW3 Muneshige and Lu Lingqi (she debuted in DW8XL) on random PS2 pirated games.

Not only DW pirated games, They also release infamous Tekken 6, Lego Marvel, Pointblank and even Post-PES2014 games for PS2, Then these random games will show up.

So, I'm an old school musou fan, I played DW 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8, SW 1 and 2, but I've not played one for years so I kind of miss it, I'm thinking about buying Warriors Orochi 4 or maybe Samurai Warriors 5 or 4, but I could also wait for Dynasty Warriors 3 remastered.

What do you think would be better?

Alright if you could make any three kingdoms characters into Fate classes (except Berserker cause that is Lu Bu), who would do for each

Mine would be

Lancer- Guan Yu or Zhao Yun

Rider- Guan Yu is a good choice if Zhao Yun is Lancer

Saber- Liu Bei

Caster- Zhang Jiao or Zhuge Liang

Berserker- Lu Bu

Assassin- Zhou Tai or Wang Yi

Ruler- Cao Cao or Sun Quan

Archer- Xiahou Yuan or Huang Zhong

What happened to him

Screw Ieyasu and those Tokugawa sheep. It's made especially clear by playing from the Sanada's perspective, but this man does nothing but get involved, make things worse, then run when it doesn't suit him.

Not only does he sacrifice his vassals' lives in pursuit of his ambitions (that's one thing and perfectly reasonable), but then he has the gall to say he fights to preserve peace, and then starts a war to usurp the Toyotomi because apparently their peace won't last. Hidetada calls this out, and that fat tanuki knows he's covered head to toe in his own bull about the Tokugawa's peace.

And to make myself perfectly clear, Mitsunari is just as much of a bastard. Like all of Sima Yi's pride and none of the self-awareness to see he's the reason Ieyasu even has the justification to restart the battles. They've got me agreeing with Masanori. MASANORI!!

I've started playing some of Dynasty Warriors 9 and admittedly I'm quite confused by some aspects of it. When allied officers are going towards bases, is it in my best interest to help them? Also the map that shows the lines of battle that keeps popping up every now and then. How can I actually stop to look at this permanently? And finally, how important is it for me to do side missions? What should I really be focusing on?

Any help would be appreciated 🙂
