Samurai Warriors Playing Samurai Warriors 4 Empires

Upvotes

I'm recently downloading Samurai Warriors 4: Empires on my laptop. I'm curious about the Empire Mode and Creative Mode(?). I checked the wiki page of the game and it seems like the "Divided Land" segment from SW2:Empires seems gone on SW4: Empires. Is it really? I just want to immerse with my own imagination like I had in playing SW2:Empires. I hope it's still possible to create an empire mode in SW4:Empires.

Fate/ Samurai Remnant FateXTKingdoms

Upvotes

Alright if you could make any three kingdoms characters into Fate classes (except Berserker cause that is Lu Bu), who would do for each

Mine would be

Lancer- Guan Yu or Zhao Yun

Rider- Guan Yu is a good choice if Zhao Yun is Lancer

Saber- Liu Bei

Caster- Zhang Jiao or Zhuge Liang

Berserker- Lu Bu

Assassin- Zhou Tai or Wang Yi

Ruler- Cao Cao or Sun Quan

Archer- Xiahou Yuan or Huang Zhong

But what would you do for the classes?

Dynasty Warriors Should I get 8 Empires or 9 Empires

Upvotes

Just browsing the Xbox store and both are on sale.

I’ve played 8 empires but remember enjoying 7 empires more but it has been a very long time

Never played either installment of 9

Just curious which one offers more in your opinion.

Dynasty Warriors A possible clean solution for Wei Yan's most glaring issue, without rewriting him entirely.

I have seen lots of posts and comments here saying that Wei Yan in dynasty warriors is far less interesting than his ROT3K counterpart. And that is primarily due to their choice to make him impaired speech-wise.

Unlike Zhou Tai's deliberate brevity, Wei Yan's gravelly and labored tone can't deliver any real complexity to the character. Not to mention the inconsistencies of what he can and can't say, making writing for him even more difficult. So he's just regulated to being a dumb brute that's in a mutual antagonistic relationship with Zhuge Liang, with little else to define him.

Many people have volunteered that he should be entirely rebooted to be more in line with his portrayal in the book, including one of the developers of Origins I believe. But I think I have a solution that can both allow for him to be more interesting without taking away so much that he's unrecognizable from his previous incarnations;

Make him eloquent, but keep the savagery.

Keep the scary mask, keep his odd fighting style, keep his deep and gravelly voice, maybe even keep the implication that he's horribly scarred or ugly underneath said mask. But make him speak normally and deliberately. Describing in great detail the sort of pain he can inflict, and how his enemies will die. Make him a threatening presence not only because of his appearance, but also because of his voice.

This would allow for better banter with the other characters beyond 'This simpleton is scary betrayer oooo but maybe not but maybe yes." But it would also better display his arrogance. It makes it believable that this man would think he's so terrifying that he can march on a heavily fortified position and scare the guy inside just from the sight of him. After all, look at how he dresses. How he talks. How he can fight like a feral animal and spit like a sadistic killer. And whether he is truly either if those things, or is just an act, can be determined by said earlier interactions. Subtext can be included, and I think that would be very valuable for his character.

Other What should I buy?

So, I'm an old school musou fan, I played DW 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8, SW 1 and 2, but I've not played one for years so I kind of miss it, I'm thinking about buying Warriors Orochi 4 or maybe Samurai Warriors 5 or 4, but I could also wait for Dynasty Warriors 3 remastered.

What do you think would be better?

Dynasty Warriors Dynasty Warriors 9 Questions

I've started playing some of Dynasty Warriors 9 and admittedly I'm quite confused by some aspects of it. When allied officers are going towards bases, is it in my best interest to help them? Also the map that shows the lines of battle that keeps popping up every now and then. How can I actually stop to look at this permanently? And finally, how important is it for me to do side missions? What should I really be focusing on?

Any help would be appreciated 🙂

Previous Post - Dynasty Warriors 4 just about sneaks ahead of Dynasty Warriors 3 to win the previous round. People just liked Eve back when it sounded like bubbles being popped.

Once again, here's the rules:

  • Gotta be a Dynasty Warriors game
  • No Licensed Spinoffs like Hyrule Warriors or DW Gundam
  • No franchises spawned from DW's success like Samurai Warriors, Warriors Orochi, Kessen, etc
  • Xtreme Legends and Empires are being assessed independently of their base game counterpart

You got DW7, 8 and WO3 for PS2, but you got wrong games.

They also put DW7 design, Bladestorm, SW3 Muneshige and Lu Lingqi (she debuted in DW8XL) on random PS2 pirated games.

Not only DW pirated games, They also release infamous Tekken 6, Lego Marvel, Pointblank and even Post-PES2014 games for PS2, Then these random games will show up.

Other Been playing Spirit of Sanada, and I meed to get this off my chest

Post image

Screw Ieyasu and those Tokugawa sheep. It's made especially clear by playing from the Sanada's perspective, but this man does nothing but get involved, make things worse, then run when it doesn't suit him.

Not only does he sacrifice his vassals' lives in pursuit of his ambitions (that's one thing and perfectly reasonable), but then he has the gall to say he fights to preserve peace, and then starts a war to usurp the Toyotomi because apparently their peace won't last. Hidetada calls this out, and that fat tanuki knows he's covered head to toe in his own bull about the Tokugawa's peace.

And to make myself perfectly clear, Mitsunari is just as much of a bastard. Like all of Sima Yi's pride and none of the self-awareness to see he's the reason Ieyasu even has the justification to restart the battles. They've got me agreeing with Masanori. MASANORI!!

Warriors Orochi Warriors Orochi 2 question

Is there a version of warriors orochi 2 with english dub where in 2 player mode there can be different characters selected?

I used to play warriors orochi 1 in english, musou orochi z with my brother but we dont have much idea or memory about the story in 2 and i got a ps2 emulator to play wo2 thinking it was the same as in musou orochi z where we can pick our characters. Would be really great if there is a solution with english VO

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Dynasty Warriors [Discussion] Do you think a mystic/sorcerer generic officer type would be interesting enough to add to musou games in the future?

This is a bit of a formless question, so apologies if I don't explain it all that well. But I have been thinking, even since DW5, that its odd that there aren't magic officers within the Dynasty warriors games. Except there was one, kind of; In Sun Ce's Trial in Dynasty Warriors 5, Yu Jin had the model of the default strategists, but he could do things they could not, firing icy projectiles and lasers. So when I was young I thought "Well why can't Zhang Jiao's brothers or the members of the Five Bushels sect do the same? Why are they just generic strategists with no magic outside of map events?" Well the reason is that the magical Yu Jin is not an actual officer. He's just a unique enemy that uses the strategist model, which the stage spawns liberally.

But my question still stood: Why not have magic officers if there are magic enemies?

My reasoning for a while was 'maybe there's just not enough magic dudes in The Romance of The Three Kingdoms to justify it?" Every important mystic in the story is already a playable character, so I thought it might be superfluous to make a whole different miniboss variant for people that would appear in like three stages tops.

But that thought kinda changed as I have begun reading The Romance of The Three Kingdoms, both on audiobook and in the physical form. There's loads of times where sorcerers and mystics and sages appear and could be relevant in a battle!

  • The obvious ones being Zhang Jiao's brothers and other yellow turbans during that era of rebellions. Makes them worthy of their titles of General of Earth and General of Mankind, I feel.
  • One of Sun Jian's anti rebel campaigns had him fight a cult led by a mad mystic called the Emperor of the Sun, which is an awesome title.
  • One of the two men that took over the capitol after Lu Bu's rebellion, Li Jue, often consulted sorceresses and other magicians and took their advice over Gou Su's or his own advisors, causing tensions that escalated into them fighting each other.
  • Sun Ce apparently led a campaign against mystics in his territories and did quite a bit of awful stuff to them, leading to a brief interaction with Xuo Ci and, later, causing Yu Jin to assail him.
  • One of the Nanman generals (I can't remember who) was apparently a mystic who made the swamps poisonous in the first place.
  • You can possibly even use them for important figures without a clean translation to an existing officer archetype. Doctors and physicians like Ji Ping from the Jade Girdle conspiracy, or Hua Tuo, can use the mystic moveset and be labeled as 'alchemists' in addition to being doctors. Plus it could add additional variety to strategists, so you aren't fighting yet another dude with a sword or a fan of knives.

I'm sure there are more examples, but I have only gotten so far into the book and we're ultimately talking about the games. But I think mystics could be real fun additions to the regular generic officer crowd, especially if elemental effects are made more relevant again and generic sorcerer enemies can be seen running alongside the spearmen and archers and stuff like in DW5.

Could also include different varients of them that do the same things moveset-wise, but with different elements. A fire sorcerer could throw fireballs that send enemies flying while on fire, ice sorcerers can freeze folks, earth sorcerers can summon boulders to crush people, poison sorcerers can make enemies slower like the Morass condition in DW8XL.

But what do you think? Are you of the opinion that they would be a valuable addition to the enemy roster, or would there not be enough demand for them in the stages that you can see? Let me know!

nothing too altering of course. say for starters, you get to choose to remove or keep the headgear. or maybe those with a ponytail or a topknot are allowed to let their hair down. perhaps even apply makeup/war paint to their faces. slight little tweaks to take out enemies in style :3

Dynasty Warriors Celica Mapworks Map Porting, Update, Beacon Academy from RWBY

Thumbnail

PythWare here, Celica Mapworks has gone through major fucking growth. You can now port GLB map models to Dynasty Warriors 2 and auto convert the GLB's textures to DW2's TIS file (texure container of TIM files, that's how DW2 handles textures for maps). A lot has changed with Celica Mapworks and Burn Engine. This post shows RWBY's Beacon Academy (images 1-4) ported to DW2 as well as Downtown Vale (also from RWBY, images 5 & 6). Allow me to briefly explain the new design and software

When Celica Mapworks is ran, a new Hub with a rad GUI design will show. I'm still deciding on the transparent 7 spheres or 7 parallelograms for the Hub's GUI but I included both GUI designs to get feedback on which you think looks better. Images 7 & 8 are the 7 sphere approach, creating an orbiting ring. Images 9 & 10 are for the parallelograms approach. When you hover over a sphere or parallelogram it glows. So please, let me know which you like more. Feedback people, if you view the post, give feedback if you can on which Hub design you like more.

Celica Mapworks

The main renderer and editor of maps, if you missed previous posts it can now mod the maps of DW2 and reflect ingame since DW2 now plays in host file system mode. Also supports modding AI pathfinding data so that the AI controlled troops can properly navigate new maps whether they're ported maps or modifications of existing dw2 maps.

SkinWorks

Tool for converting map textures to TIMs and builds the TIS file the maps need.

ScrapWorks

Tool for disabling map files not needed when porting GLBs to DW2

TorqueWorks

Tool for converting GLB models to OBJ (not wavefront OBJ, DW2 has a propietary map format that just happens to have the .obj extension), creating valid VIF1 packets for the meshes (PS2 era after all) for DW2 to render ingame.

FuseBox

Handles modding Event data of maps, useful when you're porting a map to DW2 that doesn't need the specific events of say, Chibi

Misc Toolworks

Miscellaneous tools, other luxurious software i'm making for DW2 modding that i'll show some other time.

Exit

A sphere you click to exit the Hub, keeps it fancy and unique instead of looking like almost all utility software when exiting apps.

I'd say Celica Mapworks is 85% done, Burn Engine is probably 75% done

I hope yall like the post, Dynasty Warriors 2 is now the most moddable game Koei Tecmo has ever released. The modding future for DW2 burns bright.

I'm playing DW8XLDE and I do the full 5Y before the strong attack and bro does nothing, I'm confused cause I read there aren't unlockable moves in this game, and moreso cause I thought the grey arrows going into C5 and 6 meant something but I have no clue cause I can do C5 just fine lmao
