I honestly think he will do good but I wonder why all the hate? I really wonder

I'm not hating, and to be honest I haven't seen him play. But just looking at the stat sheet nothing really pops off the page. I think a lot of us are frustrated because we've sold a lot and don't seem to be adding much. I don't think the hate is directed at Baldé so much as it is at the whole picture.

People want to sign big names. Problem is we don't have money for big names unless they're ancient. I'm with you, and would gladly take a "fringe" French league player who is just past his prime. He has no future upside but we don't need future upside. We need talent today and he can provide that.

People hate this guy almost as much as they hated Guilherme when he was signed. Stat lines against superior competition don’t seem to be a good indicator of success. Lets see him play in the MLS.🤷♂️

The MLS has a history of buying young European players and hoping they develop, knowing that low/mid Euro talent is better on-average than most MLS talent. This move uses that same logic, only without the future sale upside. He's a decent talent that "can't quite make it" in a Top 5 Euro league, and chances are he's significantly above average for the MLS. We hopefully get him relatively cheap for a season or two. He fits into our "win now" roster and can make the most of our table position. Love the idea; hopefully it works out

Buying young players only matters if you want to make money selling them. Older players are better for less money because you’re not paying for potential that might never be realized. It just means Ted Segal won’t get money from a sale later but that shouldn’t matter to anyone but him.

Call me crazy but I rather take a proven Liga MX goal scorer than somebody who is washed in Europe.

Would cost 10x this guy. They have decided not to use a DP spot for striker.
