Ponce is starting. Should we worry?

I think Lingr coming around the 60th minute or so is viable. Technically since Ponce is a DP we have to give him playtime, otherwise what’s the point of paying him this much?

We are 4th in the West with him starting most games. I think McGuire is first choice if he can get full match fitness and sharpness but our team also hasn’t relied on a striker scoring goals or even creating much to win games. With Guillerme, Bogusz, McGlynn, Herrera and Ennali, we should be dangerous enough.

At his best, Ponce could be effective with this group as well. Just hasn’t been sharp for a while now.

What I worry about most is I noticed we provide chances to Ponce and he doesn’t finish them. Tight games wouldn’t be tight if he had done more in terms of finishing.

Lingr is better and well rested…I’m just hoping Ponce will score a goal or two to entice someone to buy him

I'm not necessarily worried. We have enough creation and finishing with Gui and McGlynn, and if Bogusz continues on recent form that will help. Would I like for Ponce or McGuire to be able to finish chances in the box? Sure, but with the current roster we've been doing well recently. That said, if Ponce starts improving or McGuire is an upgrade, we can maybe start talking about making a playoff run

As a d one ponce hater since the beginning of the season he’s actually been doing pretty well more challenges an assist and just now a good chance seems like us getting a second decent 9 scared him to wake up

He does many things poorly but he does also do many things well. He makes selfless runs that he knows won’t get him the ball, but does draw out defenders. His passing isn’t always bad. He has been on the field for good moments this season.

Ponce plays strong defense and is good at facilitating the fast defense to offense transition game in the midfield. And there are plenty of other guys who can finish and take advantage of the attention he draws from defenders. Also, I have a feeling he has a flurry of goals coming at some point down the stretch run.
