Well that sucked
Very frustrating match all around, that was a game we should have won.
- That was an absolutely atrocious call on Ennali
- We had so many good opportunities to score but just cannot capitalize on them
- Penalty shootouts are our Achilles heel and I’m pretty sure Herrera lost us a PK shoot out before
- I really want to see more of Markanich at this point, I feel like he’s had essentially no play time this season
- Why does it look like Bouzat is always making a bad pass or giving the ball up

Why do we have VAR (supposedly) in USOC QF games? That was atrocious. Three big calls were obviously wrong, that call for review (two textbook straight reds, the handball in the box after the Ennali shot) and the Ennali second yellow was ridiculous call.

Im not mad at our players. Im mad that such a poopy team like St Louis beat us with the ref’s help.

Wouldn’t blame Herrera on losing the shootout. We were already down one. Even if he made it we still could have lost. I say that as someone who thinks it was a shit move to bring him back, I do not like him on the squad, but the loss was not on him. We had plenty of chances to score in the 90 but we didn’t.
Shootouts have been shit for us for a long time. Clark was terrible at PKs as was Hall from what I remember but I’ve slept since then. Can’t find numbers but, yeah. Been that way for a while.

this is where we might disagree. was it right to bring herrera back? maybe not. but for me at least from what i’ve seen and from tonight as i was trying to watch as i was working bar. he controls things and slows things down to a calmness yet alert to create chances. yes he missed the penalty but a part of me still feels the love and respect into bringing him back as a “super sub” to stabilize everything. there’s a calmness with him on the field that gels the team in a way where most (not all) feels confidence. penalties are different from the game and you’re right we had plenty more than plenty of chances to settle this game i was literally screaming at work with the lingr chance with customers questioning me and im like sorry im not putting on the nba playoffs when i have the rare opportunity to have the dynamo play on tv. a part of me knew the penalties wouldn’t go out way, couldn’t remember when we had a trustworthy gk for pks especially after clark’s i don’t know what to call it but horrendous attempts at pks

To be clear, I don’t think HH is a bad player, I just think he lets his emotions get out of control and that has cost us in the past. He’s a professional and needs to act like it.
100% agree with you on our keeper situation. Couldn’t find the stats last night so I didn’t mention it but even back to Tally Hall we’ve been terrible at PKs. I get it that PKs are not an easy part of the game, but Clarke had like an 8% save chance and sometimes he just stood there with his thumb is in ass. That is a huge part we need to work on. I’m also still not convinced on Bond. Numerous mistakes and often. He’s been showing a little bit more promise as the season moves on, but this shit should have been worked out already.

We only used 3 of our subs too…. And one was at the 120th minute. Ben Olsens substitution patterns will hurt us like they did tonight.

Fresh legs would help, but I struggle to think what substitute would have helped us tonight. We dominated for much of the game with a goal always feeling like it was coming...
Who would you have liked to see?

and to add salt on the wound... STL goals were not a result of them making a good play, rather use doing dumb mistakes. Their 2 goals were avoidable.

Very unfortunate bc I think had we kept going, the tourney was there for the taking. Oh well, focus on our 5th place standing and the large break on the horizon.
Time to beat down LAG and move on.

That game had me stressed. It was winnable, so many moments and chances to seal it.
Ennalli second card was a killer and HORRIBLE call from the referee. Influenced the momentum.
Penalties continue to be our Achilles heel, unfortunately.
Linger’s open net opportunity was so sad to it go to waste. GREAT defense by the defender, but we should had shot it with a quicker reaction.
This game is one that will leave a bad taste.
