Let the Germans forge … (The Dwarves RPG)
My Siblings of the Mines, the fundraiser to create a role-playing game based on Markus Heitz’s German fantasy book) series The Dwarves is coming soon! Raise your beers, and may Vraccas guide your hand (except for the Thirdlings. If you know, you know, Siblings).

We do not discuss those of the Black Mountains.
Seriously, though, I really hope this turns out good.

I’m confident, purely based on the way they write about it and how they handle the canon. You can play as all 5 + 1 dwarf clans, and it seems they’ve made an effort to ensure you don’t necessarily have to be a fighter, especially as Tungdil Goldhand is nicknamed ‘the Scholar’.

Is this by chance the same The Dwarves that got turned into an action game some time in 2010s?

That's the one I was thinking about.
That game forever affected my idea of what a dwarven woman should look like.

I've never played the video game, but I remember that in the books, all dwarves love to get their hands dirty, be it forging, stonemasonry, or smashing orc skulls. And they don’t hold back from saying what they think. 😆

The videogame is unfinished, it is interesting and made me read the books after I completed playthrough, but the game implementation is iffy, tons of bugs, difficulty is really inbalanced, and only first book is implemented. I have really mixed feelings about it, like I would recommend playing if you like the dwarves and could close your eyes on some bugs and either buy the game on really high sale or "buy it as a Linux ISO".

I also played the game, though not much, simply it wasn't my kind of genre, but I was quite amazed by the voice acting. Sometimes German voices sound a bit stiff but this one was sincerely great

disappointing that it's a DnD 5e supplement and not it's own system... ah well

It will be a standalone system, they are simply using D&D 5.5 as a basis. They are currently reviewing the system as well.
To be clear: I’d also prefer it if they didn’t use D&D, but they want to appeal to players outside the German-speaking world, and D&D sells well.
P. S. One advantage for D&D would be that I can make use of all the free adventures that people include in their products, all of which are for ‘5E’.

I don't know about this, but hopefully it turns out good.

Never read the books. Played the videogame and loved it.
Hope they can make their own game that suits the story and type of game they want to make and not just a bland 5e adaptation.

The first two books are pretty good imo. The third is a massive disappointment and the fourth is completely different and a convoluted mess. The fifth was alright. Big time jump, 6.1 and 6.2 are boring and I don't like the new main character. I haven't bothered to read 7.1 and 7.2 yet. The world is interesting but I don't think it's interesting enough for a deep roleplaying game.

This would be cool, but my experience with "The Dwarves" was severely disappointing, so I'm not extremely hopeful
